The police just haven't confirmed it yet. They are saying very little. It's one of the many lessons from Ferguson. Shut up. Hand it over. Give responsibilities to an outside agency.

This way, the BRPD won't be responsible for the release of info.

I keep chiming in here after pages and pages. Who fired? Cop at his head with gun drawn? Cop straddling him? Or both?

I've not seen the second video people are talking about.

the dude had a gun, I'm not sure why this is still being argued

I'm also not sure why the second video looked worse to many people. If anything, it cleared it up. The shoot is starting to look cleaner as it goes. Looks like they lost control of one of his hands and he leaned forward for the gun so they shot him.

I'm sure I'll be roasted but I don't care. Everyone has a right to an opinion.

I think both fired. The coroner said shots in chest and back. The second video somewhat supports this.

Cop by his legs fires first after he yells about the gun. After his 3 shots he rolls off and Alton sits up. Cop at his head rolled as well and shot 3 more times with him sitting up telling him to stay down.

I'm deducing most of this. But you can see Alton in a totally different position away from the car. I think that supports that.

I'd say that is smart.

Was that the mother or the aunt?

I heard on the news that the aunt said it. This was in the same news report where they said multiple witnesses said the second LEO pulled a gun out of Sterling's pocket.

It looks "worse" only because you get the blood and about 10 seconds of aftermath. But it more clearly shows there was a struggle still going on just prior to the shots, which I agree, helps with proving justification.

In front of his kids. They just rolled up from a KKK meeting saw him and shot him. He didn't own a gun and never hurt a soul. He was working on getting his life back on track from his arrest for possession of X last week. Stop the KKKops and white people before they kill all minorities just for being alive. This was cold blooded murder they should rot in jail because god will make them rot in hell. Believ dat. #MisspelledName #KillNon-Minorities #CanMobJusticeBeServedInsteadOfTheJusticeSystem #IWantToRiot 100!

considering salamoni's dad is a captain and almost became chief, it's most definitely in their best interest to let outside agencies take control in a situation like this

You mean the 10 seconds where his left arm goes all wonky and he is dying?

No. But I was watching the video on my phone so maybe I missed something.
Gotcha.

Again, it is certainly speculation. But from the moment the cop says, "he's got a gun." there appears to be a clear struggle over something between that cop and the perp, specifically with the perp's right hand.

I think we can reasonably assume that struggle was for a gun, or what the cop thought was a gun. But that certainly could be incorrect, and it could be something entirely different that explains the perceived scuffle.

Anyone saying this was not a clean shoot is blinded by emotion.

1. He had a gun according to witnesses and the two officers.
2. He was struggling with the police.

Don't struggle, don't get shot. It's really that simple. The police have the right to defend themselves from an armed suspect.

And the cop still pointing his gun. It's "worse" in the sense that it's less censored than the first video. But not worse in creating a better case for murder which I think is what Brag meant.

Can cops chime in here?? What prompted that guy to put his hands on that dude? That immediately ramps it up into a FIGHT, and if they knew he was armed or was reported to be armed, its a fight to death. Is waiting for MORE backup a policy or protocol? When you see your suspect is massive? Or would fellow officers call you a pussy after a few calls for back up that went without incident.

Having a good friend who was a cop, I know at that time 2000ish there was a definite pride in "taking care of my own shite" unless absolutely necessary.

That cop jumped up and grabbed that dude and I KNOW thought "oh shite" because it barely moved him how it wanted him to.

Bottom line though, he was armed? Cops know they can't lose a fight.

Killed for CD's? Sucks...

Willing to die over CD's? Sucks more...

I think this photo does more for the cops story than what the Daily News intended. They meant for shock and awe, but the right pocket definitely looks like a hand has been in it compared to the left. There also appears to be something black sticking out of it.

I agree it's more justification of the seconds that led up to the shooting. I'm not worried about the gore shock, though I can see how some would be concerned with it, especially if this investigation turns into charges and the video be admissible in court. The whole 'sympathy' angle.
