He had a gun.
He had a gun and was struggling with cops.
He had a gun and was struggling with cops even after they told him not to move.
Some of you fricking people are legitimate scum of the earth and no doubt it's your nasty shite in the waterways causing all the skin eating bacteria

It's easy to sit there and talk about what you would've done in a tense situation as cop with a tpos with a gun.
I have yet to do anything remotely close to this

Is there ever any middle ground in these threads? I mean nobody can think that the cops were 100% right or 100% wrong in this, can they?
apparently not

Why in the hell would they chance that?

I'm aware
so having a gun and resisting arrest is punishable by death now?
this is what we have agreed to in this thread?

To be fair, in the video clip posted, Sterling is never the aggressor
Yea, that second and a half before the tackle (while he's already being tased BTW) really tells the whole story.

but it would be helpful to their cause if the video showed the man acting like a raving lunatic.
Yea, I'm really sure DJ Chris Major is interested in presenting an unbiased video.

its the new normal, you are either way over here or way over there, there is no middle ground.
apparently everyone has all of the facts already and has made their minds up

No, and you know that.

because they are cops, and like it or not, they are held to a higher standard than the average citizen

So I'm just going to ask, should we expect some riots/protests?

Not by me in this instance, and I doubt I'm the only one.

Cops responded to a man outside of a store with a firearm.
He doesn't comply because he's a convicted felon and going back to jail.
Why do I care?
fricking this... Responded due to complaint of man with firearm...struggles with police and does not comply...officer yell's "He's got a gun"...he gets shot...
Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I get that the cops are reacting with split second decisions in the moment and don't have time to analyze the situation like we do, but cops are held to a higher standard than the average citizen
Held to higher standard, ok, but they aren't fricking super heroes.
Something people are missing here and may not have a lot of knowledge on is how hard it is to hold a guys arm. If your hand cant go all the way around the object you are trying to hold it is very hard to grip it. You also have to look at the angles. An arm close to the body gives a person more strength than one that's extended. An officer with extended arm and a bad sweaty grip on the suspects arm would be very hard to control with two hands, much less with one. This cops grip slip one time while the suspect is going for a gun and he could die.

Still, selling CDs doesn't warrant getting shot. These policeman have to get better training for these situations. It's sad that a man is dead and now these two officers are going to go through hell for trying to protect themselves when they were in over their heads.
Only 1 up vote and 7 down votes to this response is telling. The police can be overwhelmed due to poor or inadequate training and still be justified in shooting the man. I think a reasonable person can separate the two ideas. Hell, I'd think even the officers would have behaved differently in hindsight. If they knew he had a gun it is unlikely the approach him in such a manner. They tackled him to get him to the ground but that escalated the situation to deadly force once the gun appeared, if the gun appeared. Once that happened, shooting seems justified, but the question is if that was avoidable in the first place.

lol, wow. Why the frick are people even arguing with you? Having a gun and resisting arrest is the very definition of getting shot.
Holy shite, that is the single most dumbest thing I've ever seen posted on this site...and I used to go round and round with Mr Clean
