Mental illness is now considered mainstream, and we don't treat it any more and society has actually embraced it. See last election for proof.

At any given time, 30% of Americans are undergoing mental stress at varying levels. You could be close to snapping one day and near normal the next if the stress is mitigated.
Also, some people can handle stress much better than others. It’s those without anger and stress management skills who pick up a gun and handle bad situations in their own very selfish manners.

The more you deviate from the norm, the more you will agitate things. People are acting out in a lot of places because society isn't like it was in 2019, and people are stressed by that. The harder you push a totalitarian point of view, the more you will push people into opposition.
