I'm all for "No Pit Bulls". One child killed is one too many. What good are they. They're not Service Dogs, not hunting dogs, and evidently they're not good with children. What else is there besides guarding your Crack House.

In the early 20th century pitbulls were used as catch dogs in America for semi-wild cattle and hogs, to hunt, and drive livestock, and as family companions.[6] Some have been selectively bred for their fighting prowess.[7][8]

Pit Bull Terriers successfully fill the role of companion dogs, and police dogs,[9][10] and therapy dog.[11] Pit Bull Terriers also constitute the majority of dogs used for illegal dog fighting in the America[12] In addition, law enforcement organisations report these dogs are used for other nefarious purposes, such as guarding illegal narcotics operations,[13][14] use against police,[15] and as attack dogs.[16]

If it would mean not another child would ever have to suffer the horrible fate of being mauled to death by a Pit Bull, I'd gladly lend a hand in lining them up and shooting dead every single Pit Bull in the world.

I understand your sentiment, but it's the culture which is responsible for this widespread phenomenon that is the main issue and the real danger.

If you wanted to really save lives, you might want to start lining up the trash owners and shooting them.

I love dogs.Man's best friend.

I guess if people can own Tigers they can own Pit Bulls.

Most of the fault may lay on the owner for not having them secure.

It just seems like everyday a kid or an elderly lady is mauled or killed by a pit bull.

Shooting dogs that kill children & old people = ignorance and trashy.

Shooting people = Great idea.

The absurd horseshite that passes for wisdom on this board is astounding. No wonder this country is going to shite.

Yes indeed. Pit bulls are America's most misunderstood breed of dog. You can't fault a dog for doing what it was bred to. Yet alone the shitty owners.

See, people get these things to walk the streets with them, terrorize people with them and God knows what else. They're allowed to do whatever they want and don't see any scrutiny until something like this happens. I'm not saying it's the dog but don't overlook the owner in cases like this. It's like a mentally ill person committing a crime. Don't know any better

I'm not the one who on one hand is saying it's "ignorant" to put down killer dogs but instead we should start killing the stupid people who own them instead.

Was this another "130 pound pitbull"? Bc that isn't a pitbull, it's a mutt.

It is 100% the breed in this situation, not the owner's fault. These are clearly responsible, educated owners who probably took this dog to classes every week. I'm sure they were constantly walking this dog and socializing it.

There are several breeds that fill all of these roles much better than a pitbull would, without the inherent ability to kill/maul/crush/maime that comes with the pitbull breed.

I can use a cocked and loaded pistol as a paper weight, a doorstop, and a bookend. But there are better alternatives that aren't inherently designed to kill things.

Pitbulls just have too much potential for damage to be considered a smart choice as a family pet. There a literally hundreds of other breeds that are better choices and less dangerous.

So we should institutionalize all Pits?

Yeah, people don't seem to know what a pit really is.
