Naw, I’m known by more folks than I immediately know.
It’s hell when folks come up to you and start in talking to you about your family or work and you just have to play along until a clue comes up.
The little füts were popular and successful in high school & college so that adds to the complexity.
I’ve got a circle of about 20 folks (excluding family) that I am very tight with.

I appreciate your reply and your post is so relatable. I left a week after high school graduation for Marine Corps Boot Camp. I was in for over 10 years but got out and returned to small town usa.
But yes, I avoid the IGA on purpose. My father on the other hand, a town hot shot - at least he thinks - loves it. So cringe. It's terrible though because everyone stayed and I don't recognize them, but of course they know me.
But yes, I think I really feel the lone wolf thing

25% of the time I'm a lone wolf. 50% of the time I'm in a small pack. 25% of the time it's just me and my lady wolf. The other 33% of the time is a mix of two of the above but not all three. Some days I am a half wolf. Other days I'm extinct. That's all I got...
