This should go without saying, but remember to bring your passport on the trip if you plan to head to the BVIs.

Rent a dual sport motorcycle and go island hopping. Taking ferrys to Virgin Gorda, Tortola, St John, etc is a blast. Tortola is a fun place to ride a motorcycle.

Plus with a motorcycle, pretty much every beach is easily accessible without having to search for parking.

It's a lot more fun but also a lot more expensive to charter a boat. You aren't stuck to the ferry schedule or to places that only the ferry goes.

The problem is if you are chartering from St. Thomas. You just added to the time to get to the other islands and the fuel bill for which you are responsible.

This is a work trip. One of the "excursions " is a private charter to JVD. Others included night kayaking, zip lining, and swimming with sea lions.

I've got that bad boy packed in case I come back on the private plane. Also for the BVIs.

It will be a great exploratory trip for you to plan future trips then. I go down there a couple of times a year and love tooling around the BVI.

Cool. The wife is a sucker for beaches. I finally convinced her to do a non-beach vacation this year.

Check the cruise schedule. On days certain boats are in port places like Maagens Bay/Beach will be packed with cruisers. So either avoid or attend depending on your preference.

Turtle Cove has nice snorkling and there are quite a few charters you can take with a boat that will take you from St Thomas to St John, anchor in a small cove and let you out to swim, snorkel, etc.

You can either rent one for yourselves or go on something larger with a group.

Eat at Pickles in the marina. The beach restaurant at the Marriott has all-you-can-eat prime rib and lobster Tuesdays and Thursdays at night, I think. They have a little Hobie sailboat and kayaks you can rent(or borrow if you're a guest) at the Marriott as well.

St. Thomas has multiple cruise ships on port nearly every day depending on the season. There really isn't an off day for cruise ships as it is the second busiest cruise ship port in the Caribbean.

Head over to St Johns and BVI. St Johns ferry is really cheap while BVI is a little more and takes a lot longer so be aware of that. I enjoyed hitting up numerous beaches in St Johns. Amazing how remote some of those areas are.

St Thomas is ok. It's just that St. John and the BVI are head and shoulders above St. Thomas and there are no cruise ship people.

Tortola is a big cruise port now. Those islands are far better due to the national park and better water not the people.

It's the lack of people that makes them better. I haven't had to deal with it on Tortola but we don't really go there when we go to the BVI.

And depending on the day and cruise lines in port, places like Maagens Bay can be a nightmare

Yeah, we will probably try to avoid the cruise lines.

I need to marry in to this family? You sure all your wifes sisters are happily married?

The youngest sister is still on the market. You won't be IN the family, but you'll at least be in the family. That's a lot better than most folks.
