Not all chiropractors are MDs, but there are a few out there. I'd only go to one who is also an MD.
If you're going to do that. Just go see a Phyical Medicine MD.
OP - go see a physical therapist. They're at least interested in getting you better vs. quick fixing your pain.

I was in a wreck in 1999 and the doctors couldn't do anything to help my back. Despite X-rays and MRIs their only course of action was to prescribe more muscle relaxers and hydrocodone.
I'd always heard chiropractors were quacks so I was leery of going to one but I was running out of options.
The chiropractor felt the muscles along my back and was able to pinpoint exactly where I was hurting the most. The fricking doctors couldn't even do that with MRI scans.

I don't see how cracking a joint can help you, but it does feel good.

They have an unbelievably strong legislative lobby and have manipulated (pun intended) the insurance industry to a great degree.
They are a perfect treatment for the masses today. They offer quick, albeit short-term results, but no LONG-TERM healing. Go to a qualified physical therapist who will give you exercises to HEAL you, not make you feel better for two weeks.
In the interest of full disclosure, I am married to an incredibly talented and successful PT, who has educated (swayed?) me to this position.
If you aren't convinced and want to talk further, call me.

Yeah, I'm sure there's not another side to this story

I just kissed you, in Havana, like Michael kissed Fredo.

Yea that's kind of the point.

One of my best friends is a PT and I've gone to them for a few months following a knee injury. Stuff works wonders if you stick with it.
The needling was pretty legit too.

If you have back problems, see a neurosurgeon.

There you have it. Some people don't have any other options. They go to a chiro as an alternative. There are plenty who get good results. To me it's just another form of physical therapy or, nutritionists.

Fact. But during, I thought it similar to the time I was probed by aliens...it made me vaguely nauseous, like kissing you, did. I regret that.

Didn't a chiropractor kill a porn star last year?

This ole boy didn't promise me wonders. He said they do three treatments if its not better than he said he would refer me to a PT if needed. He sat down and gave me a bunch of back excersises to do on my own. Explained the breakdown of the back and what the point is.
He did say there was no point to going if I didn't stretch or do the excersises. I expected him to tell me how awesome he is and how I need to come back for maintainance etc. I expected a quack. He was recommended and came across as giving a shite and not promising the moon or roping me into long term shite. He really stressed muscle strength and gave me a pamphlet on particular excersises for what I was in for.
I was perplexed when I left. I expected a cattle market of people just passing through and popping backs. That's why I'm confused. I thought about a PT and thought I'd give this guy a whirl first

Why would your first option if you have back problems be to go to a surgeon?
Posted on 5/17/17 at 6:26 pm to thejudge
Mike Goff did miracles for my back once many years ago. Only Chiro I ever went to, but it was great relief. Take it FWIW

A chiro will refer you to an MD or PT, but an MD won't refer you to a chiro.
