Again a bunch of experts that haven't read the order and get hoodwinked by the media (as usual) looking ignorant as frick.

Making legislation a priority for his administration doesn't require an EO. It requires actually pressuring congress on the issue.

I've read the EO and it simple doesn't solve the legal issues that caused the NCAA to throw its hands up and allow unlimited transfers.

If Trump wants to fix things, he needs to use his influence to push legislation through.

This executive order does not solve anything.

Turning this into a “Ivey is waived for anti-LGBTQ comments” thread is a little disingenuous to me.

It definitely is. His mom is the head coach of Notre Dame and his head coach Billy Donovan is Catholic.

Ivey disparaged Catholicism as a false religion.

I agree, he should resign.

The man isn't trapped. He gets millions if he gets fired.

IDK if CMM would be willing to change roles but I do think he'd be valuable in most roles outside of HC. He seems like a great guy and thge players love him.

He’d make a great Walmart greeter
Dick Vitale is an annoying scumbag.

Yeah it's a tough pill to swallow that McMahon was objectively a good hire and better hire than Golden, on paper, in the spring of 2022.

If you ignore all context from their resume, it was a better hire on paper.

Golden was a young, brash guy, more in the mold of Wade. Woodward was never gunna hire that. But it's probably what LSU needs as a basketball coach.

So he hired a bland personality with a good resume.
I'm fine with hiring Wade back, if possible.

What I cannot comprehend are the rumors that this has become a binary decision, i.e. we only move on from McMahon, if Wade is willing to come.

This completely ignores Matt McMahon’s role in generating enthusiasm amongst donors for NIL.

A college basketball head coach is not a basketball monk. They have to be the face of the program, courting donors and selling a vision.

Matt McMahon isn’t a victim. I’m so tired of the excuses.
I can't believe it's even in question whether he's getting canned. At this time last year, if you told this board that he would go 3-15 in the SEC, 99% would say he's gone.

Coach McM deserves a similar 5th year opportunity.

It's so clear when people don't actually watch the product.

No one who has been tuned in the last few years thinks McMahon has been building anything.

Keeping him for a 5th season would be insane.

He lacks the personality and fire to get the program to a good place. His talent evaluation and roster construction is suspect,. His actual coaching, for all the shite the basketball haters gave CWW, leaves much to be desired.
quote:

This is true, but it will still be a lot to buy him out. The buyout will probably be over $7M, and then we still have to pay a new coach probably more than we're paying CMM, and possibly increase the NIL. A combination of things have led to poor results, not just coaching. Low NIL in previous years, injuries, learning curve to coach to compete in the SEC, some misses in the portal, some poor roster construction, and not retaining the best players. If we fire CMM, we will probably again lose our core players, and we'll have a lot less money to rebuild. Nobody likes the results we've had, but firing CMM this year will probably set us back next year. If CMM gets a talented roster next year that stays healthy, and again fails to produce, then it'll be much more affordable to fire him. CMM will also know that.

Dude, it takes one year to turn things around in college basketball if you are a good coach.

Giving McMahon a fifth year is insanity. He should have been shitcanned after bottoming out in year 3. He followed that up by doing even worse.

Thanks goodness, it's over.

It's not over until it's over. The McMen won't stop. Last year the Woodward propaganda and Moscona were spouting that it was simply a lack of resources. More resources were pumped into the program and McMahon completely bottomed out.

Now Moscona et al are saying that the money isn't there to fire him.

I just saw an SECN segment where they played player comments about McMahon postgame and Mark Pope's comments about how well coached LSU is. The Panel then opined about how LSU should keep McMahon.

It was absurd.

Its always another excuse why we can't rid ourselves of the drain that is Matt McMahon.

Mac didn’t destroy the program,

Him being here did. He has generated 0 fan enthusiasm. Ultimately Woodward killed the program by handing a guy not fit for the job that contract.
If Verge is even considering this he’s an idiot.

McMahon has to go. He has sucked every last ounce of energy from the program.

If we are that cash strapped on Basketball, shitcan his arse and take a gamble on someone cheap that actually has a pulse.
They just had a retread not work out before Miller. They ain’t dumb enough to take McDud
