I’m not Catholic. But I am a member on the one true, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church.
I’m sure you will have no idea what I’m talking about because all Protestants lack an understanding of Church history.

I always am always an eager participant in theology threads

It's all good. I enjoy them myself and only recently decided to participate in them, trying to steer them toward actual discussion without the ad hominem. I fail sometimes. I wonder when Christians attack other Christians where they're coming from. I don't mind disagreements, but name-calling doesn't help anyone and seems a bit ironic to be using in a Christian discussion.

Well one it's the OT, so just by environmental influences, it's gonna be difficult to have a serious discussion about theology on this board

As mentioned I've always taken great interest in theology and even considered it being my major I had two uncles who had doctorates of theology, one of them was the one who introduced me to CS Lewis
But I remember a discussion in a class where just as discussion we came to the conclusion that perhaps all the different denominations were that God knew that as the world expanded the message was going to have to make allowances for times in human history and that the Catholic Church and then subsequently the Eastern Orthodox Church served best at establishing THE FAITH In what was then the remnants of the Roman and Greek empires the homes of the Cathlic and Orthadox
Western Civilization progressed as we had continuous splits over a verse or two the message while drifting from the messenger, Christ.

It far has less to do with sola scriptura and far more to do with:
The utilization of local political forces to throw off a corrupt Catholic Church expositing too much authority in the 15th century which ultimately led to a shift in ecclesiastical authority from a top-down episcopal system to other ecclesiological theories.
Further, you can’t sweep the wide branches that have formed in Christianity in the 1,400 years prior to the reformation. Copts, Armenian orthodox, Alexandrine and Antiochene churches, etc. I don’t agree with them either, but when we talk about early Christianity, it is quite an overstatement to presume it was ever completely unified.
David Litwa (who is wrong about so much) has done a good job explaining the existence of “early christianities” instead of an “early Christianity.”
