No idea, but I purchased a quality high dollar vacuum for her first Christmas present many years ago.

That seems like a lot.

We have better than average income and if we exchange gifts at all it’s usually something along the lines of a nice shirt or some perfume. Just a “hey I didn’t forget you” gesture.

Side note: I have a personal trainer who lives hand to mouth and the amount she mentioned spending on her kids at Christmas was mind blowing to me. Like 4-5X what mine get.

We spend freely during the year so we have an understanding that neither of us buys the other a "gift". 15 years running

I don't put a dollar amount on it. I just listen throughout the year and take mental notes as to what she might like. For example, if we're watching a movie and she says "I love that old Blondie t-shirt she's wearing" I'll remember that and it will go on her list.

we're ~1.5% of total household income on the entire family (me, wife, 2 kids). this includes a new tree that we had to get this year.

Take home or gross? Two vastly different numbers in small business.
