My kids are out of the house now, so we're out of this mess. But I can tell you that we ran from the scouts like a spotted ape when this shite started.
We're a family of multiple eagle scouts, school educators, school counselors and various other normal occupations. There's still a chance for this country - normal people make it a conscious habit to avoid the culture of mental illness.
Some flyover portions of the U.S. still have common sense and are grounded. That's our only hope going forward.

My advice - buy a good one, because your gonna be using it due a long time.
Red Boat is the one I've used, sparingly.
I use it often in various recipes, but a small dash in your rice is one of the best uses that I've found.

Did some contract work with the the state of California franchise tax board for a couple of years during covid. The employees that I communicated with were amazed and jealous at the freedom I had to function as a normal person.
Out of professional respect, and my selfish desire to keep the invoices being paid, I quickly stopped sharing any details about how people live in flyover states.
Those people's daily lives were miserable.

Kid from Baltimore transferred to my local school district, and the poor kid was not able to test into his grade. The local school district contacted the principal in Baltimore, and the response was literally "you don't understand, we can't teach these kids." I can assure you, the person who made that phone call to the principal wanted to reach through the phone and rip that woman's weave off her head.
The kid was lucky. His dad, a hard working OTR truck driver, relocated him from a bad situation with a mom who didn't take care of him and placed him into the local elementary school and stayed involved with him. The kid has progressed to his grade level, simply because he's in a good situation with family support and a school district that actually chooses to do their job.
The school administrators in Baltimore were content to cash their paychecks and let the kids fall through the cracks.

Check around. I found a local blueberry farm that has excess mulch and topsoil and they'll deliver to you.
