Bingo. I can’t stand when people say, “Well if we legalize weed, then this or that will happen”. As if it’s not already happening while it’s illegal. The follow up is, “Well if we legalize it then more people will do it, and therefore more bad shite will happen”, which of course I think is absolute bullshite.

What is the most dangerous/crazy situation you have been in on the job?
Pursuits. They are fun, but scary and suck. Not a big fan.
But also a standoff with a domestic suspect who was armed.

Why do you continue to be a cop, especially considering today's environment?
Not everyone is bad or hates cops. Some do, but I love it.

Was he white or black? Did he get shot?

So you’re admitting y’all have quotas?
No, I actually usually write 10-20 warnings for every citation. I’ve gotten tickets and they suck. I’ve learned a lot more when I was issued a warning. I believe people learn to drive better after being warned.

Next question. How do you cope with the fact that arresting someone for simple drug possession often ruins people’s lives, at least for the foreseeable future, even more so than the drug itself.
Well they put themselves in that situation. Minnesota is very liberal for drug charges and if they behave the charges will usually be reduced or expunged.

They also kill cops more often per capita

Is it frustrating that you haven't found a good excuse to shoot and kill and innocent black man yet in your career?

Ok here’s a non-dickish question, and you don’t have to answer it if you don’t want...
But what’s the nastiest, most gruesome thing you’ve seen at a crash site, and how do you react to it?
I’ve seen some pretty gnarly pictures that I couldn’t imagine seeing in real life.

'll bite: what is your opinion / experience with the some 20% of police officers who are ex-military?
Good and bad. Good would be the leadership and how they handle calls.
Bad, some expect you to follow what they tell you without questioning it.

militarization of the police force
Some consider our vests as military. My department wears molly vests. So I have a lot of my stuff off my belt to help my back.
Some departments need to have that scary looking vehicle for swat and other stuff. But departments that are small don’t need them. But a lot of people don’t realize departments apply for grants from the feds and military surplus.

How many mph over the speed limit do I have to go before you’ll pull me over?
It depends. If I’m looking for something it could be very low. But typically 10 over. I usually don’t cite until 15 over. Even then, I’ve let people going 15 over go.

The police academy sucks. I was never military. So waking up early and having hospital corners suck. The PT and defensive tactics suck. The worse part is getting sprayed and tased.

Why are you cops writing so many tickets for speeding but look the other way at texting and driving?
Posted on 12/15/18 at 5:04 pm to xxGEAUXxx
Where do you eventually want to end up in the department after patrol?

How long was the academy?

I agree. I think the stigma around weed is from the 60’s and 70’s. Weed is the devil lettuce. I don’t agree for the most part. I’m interested to see if it actually has a medical purpose.
