Sure they are.

But it's not or at least not within the body

EDIT: That said, I think you have been reasonable explaining why you don't want it

I know that mRNA vaccines have been a known possibility for a long time now, but they haven't been tried, so we don't know long-term effects. Reading between the lines, I'm assuming that people well educated on the subject of DNA and RNA aren't worried about that, because the modifications aren't permanent?

mRNA vaccines have been around a long time, but they HAVE been tried and found to not be effective because of the rate of mutation of the viruses they were targeting. The reason the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines were so quick to come out is because we already had mRNA vaccines to the spike protein for other coronaviruses. It just so happens that this spike protein has been stable and similar across all of the variants at that point. So, yes, we do know the long term effects because it has been tried over and over again for decades.

And lastly, mRNA does not insert itself into DNA, so there is absolutely no modification of our own code, and therefore no gene modification.

Without that as long as there is significant active transmission of the virus we will continue to get thousands of mutations any one of which could change how virulent the virus is.

Thousands of mutations are going to happen no matter what, unless the virus is completely eradicated, which won’t happen. This virus will be with us for the rest of our life. We are still getting positivities from the SARS virus that started in 2009.

While true like any other biological crapshoot reducing the number of reproductive cycles has a direct correlation with the number of mutations and the fewer overall mutations in a system the lower the chance for any specific trait to occur.

A virus existing in a population with herd immunity has fewer mutations by several magnitudes.

What if the risk of Covid to me is 0? Sounds like the vaccine's benefits aren't worth it to me then.

If the population reaching actual herd immunity isn't a benefit to you, you're either lying or a hermit that is off the grid.

Did you get all of these talking points from an email chain or facebook? You left something about Bill Gates.

With this attempt to be adorable, and the subsequent back track, you now have people reading your posts trying to decide if you were going for an elementary level of subtlety to insult my intelligence, or you actually think getting your info from chain e-mails and Facebook is a good thing.

Either way, your incredibly predictable internet troll arc is insulting enough.

Anyone I know in my age group who has gotten it has recovered quickly as it was really nothing to recover from.

And how old are you? I bet I know people who haven't recovered so quickly unless you're in your 20's. It's the only adult age group I've not seen people in the hospital.

We are closer to herd immunity than most of these 'experts' think. Roughly 100 million Americans have had the virus itself and now you have something like 70 million who have been vaccinated. Makes sense why cases/hospitalizations are plummeting now. Covid is over.

Also why should I care about the population reaching herd immunity? Covid has been over where I live for a while now. No restrictions.
