I give my kid a speech like this every year when he starts asking pesky questions like, "can I have a birthday party?" and "do you love me?"

All my friends had them. We didn't have one as I was the first to knock up our old ladies oUT of my friends, but my friends gender parties were pretty fun. They all did them during an lsu halftime. We drank watched the game, then spent 10 minutes at half time to make the ladies happy. I had fun at all of them

I've only been to one and it was actually fun. They only invited immediate family and friends. Had free beer and wine for the guest. I got to meet all their family and other friends.

we tried for 5 years and went the IVF route, so I let the wife do whatever the frick she wanted.
she did let me blow up tannerite and get trashed, though.

Baby gender reveal party......
In the old days, the gender reveal party was when the baby was born.

I really don't care either way. This fad started after most of my friends were done having kids

males should not be invited to a baby shower or any party related to having a baby.

Who doesn't like an excuse to drink and hang out with friends?

Yep. I have some friends that recently went to one. The couple already knew the gender of the baby. Soooo... you're throwing a party for what? When they did the reveal, they just stared at everyone else. Awkwarddd. Attention whoring at its finest.

An excuse to hang out with friends and family and party and celebrate your upcoming new baby and relax and enjoy life?
Some of you are ridiculously boring wet blankets.

We had one for our first born. I didn't give a shite because we tried over 10 years to get pregnant.
I have been to one and will never attend again. All this build up for an anticlimactic ending. Everyone is just standing there looking at each other afterwards.
There's still a long ways to go before the baby gets here.

You know you can do this without a gender reveal party right? You don't need some dumbass pinterest idea to drink and celebrate with friends.

Meh. We did one for both kids. It is an excuse for a party. We got baby stuff we would not have to pay for off the baby registry and had some fun.
