Entergy! I haven’t clicked on one icon on outage map seeing anything but that they first put out. Do you work for entergy?

I didn’t know they put out a number restored…how many still out?
I’m going to stay with my buddy who works for entergy today and if he wasn’t busy I would be giving my BIL hell who is head of engineering for 3 nuclear plants lol

Yep. I’m on the nuclear generation side though.

Entergy only I'm not sure of Demco but they just had a rep on the news saying Livingston and Satsuma area least 2 weeks. He sounded grim.

i find them to be extremely patronizing.
i’m barely paraphrasing…
“hi, sorry to bother you. it’s us, your power company whose monopolized the area so much so that you have zero choice in the matter. are you still hot? bored? missing work? well, we’re being paid oodles and overtime, so we’re taking OUR time. good luck. sry not sry.
love, shmentergy”

It’s the LPSC that regulates how the energy companies in LA operate. They’re the ones with the power. Just an FYI.

Probably repairing. I saw them out with the smaller crews assessing on Monday. If they can get power to that station, the coursey, Jones creek, shenendoah, and the demco customers down s. Harrell's ferry will be able to get back on soon. Probably 30,000 customers get power from that station
I don’t know if this is accurate or not.
But this is an example of EXACTLY the type of communication the utility companies should be releasing.
They should confirm that they are actively working, estimate how long it will take, and then note that this could open the door to these areas coming in line within x hours of completion.

The best thing to do is expect another week or 2 in the BR area and be pleasantly surprised if it comes on sooner.
This line of thinking is retarded.

Don't disagree. While Entergy has been furiously trimming trees the past few months, they don't seem interested in addressing deeper issues - rerouting major power lines (one of which feeds me, drops out far too often), requiring or acquiring wider rights of way, etc.
But there's no pleasing the unreasonable people. After Gustav a guy complained to my brother (working storm recovery for Entergy at the time) that he had not been able to check his email for days. My brother's response was less than sympathetic.

After Gustav many people in the BR area took this long to get power back. This outage affects more than 1 million people in the state. There are only so many crews to deploy. And remember NO isn't flooded and inaccessible this time so even though the transmission lines are down crews will be working down there.
Most in BR will probably get there power back by this weekend or early next week but some will take longer. Why wouldn't you prepare for the worst and hope for the best?
Hurricanes are a fact of life and if you you live here you should be prepared for inconvenience if one hits your area.
You can rage at the machine all you want but it won't make the electrons flow any sooner.

Pftt, he thinks that’s bad? I haven’t had cable since Sunday night. It’s almost unbearable.

After Gustav the crews came in to restore power. Some of the stuff they did on the lines around my house was sketchy. I asked one of them if they were going going to do a full repair. He said they were putting work orders in for them to come back and do a real fix after they got everyones power back on. That was some grade A bullshite, right there. The" duct tape and bailing wire" patches they left behind then are still there now.
Probably why we lost power at 2:PM before landfall when winds were a whopping 18 mph.
If they ever maintained their power lines, we would probably be in a lot better shape, but all they are interested in doing maintenance wise is trimming a few trees periodically.
