I had a good experience with Art Inc on Jefferson near Highland a few years ago. Are they still open?

Did something happen with them? That’s who we have used in the past and was happy with their work

No police report then they have nothing to go off of. I'm assuming there's no police report in this scenario.

Owen's

I thought they filed for bankruptcy a number of years ago?

I know there's a new name at their previous location on old jefferson, is it the same group running it under the new name as it was under Owens?

I'd be 99% certain that Greg is still involved. He just doesn't want his name associated with the business.
He owns the building and bought it back in the late 90's before Don Haney died.
That shop is Rocket Collision. It lists his brother, Brad Owens, as the managing partner.

He also has a second body shop on Coursey near Cedarcrest called All Star Collision.

quote:

In 2018, Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry filed suit against Owens, alleging that its practices and advertising were dishonest. Soon after, Owens Collision filed for bankruptcy. The name of the business was changed to AllStar Collision Max and it is now Rocket Collision and Service.

quote:

An attorney representing Greg Owens tells WBRZ that Owens Collision ceased operations after its bankruptcy filing on Dec. 21. However, bankruptcy documents show the property was donated from Owens Collision to GLO Investments, which is also run by Greg Owens.

On Dec. 28 attorney Ashly Earl incorporated Allstar Affordable Collision and Service, LLC. It lists Allstar Collision Max, LLC as its only officer.

Some Owens Collision signs are still visible from outside the business.

Is Darren Owens in Prairieville tied to them as well?

Side bar... What happened with Adams Collision?

Boyd got tired of the stress of running an honest body shop (which is rare)
He gave his employees a month's notice, and locked the doors.
He's happily working in a completely different industry now.
I always liked Boyd. Truly a standup guy.

Doesn’t matter. Police report is helpful, but not a requirement. They obviously exchanged info. Does the other driver have text messages he can prove OP admitting fault and agreeing to pay for repairs? If it ends up going through insurance, OP is going to have to give a statement to his insurance about happened. And if lawyers get involved, OP may end up having to give a deposition.

A bunch of things can go wrong in trying to handle it yourself. Repair estimates may come in a lot higher than OP thought. Other driver might get frustrated because either OP is taking too long or the body shop OP wants to use isn’t going to be able to get to this job quick enough. Other driver might decide to claim some sort of injury. Someone might get in the other driver’s ear and warn him that he could get fricked over if he drops off the car at the shop and OP doesn’t pay up for some reason.

I know I’d be skeptical if I was the other driver in this situation because you’re trusting a stranger and could end up with a body shop holding onto your car and having to pay out of your own pocket for a rental if this stranger doesn’t hold up his end of the deal.

Just saying…tread carefully in a situation like this unless both parties know and trust each other

I'm on this "good" list! Thinking we may know each other. How are you tied to this industry? I would say not the insurance side, because you have 2 shops listed that most adjusters don't care to deal with.
Side note: I definitely agree with you on Collision Solutions. Vu is a good friend of mine and taught me a lot about this industry.

Not true. You can get great work at a good(fair) price. There is plenty of money to be made in this business without gouging people/insurance on prices.

If that's the case then I won't ever go there. Greg Owens is a shady, dishonest business owner
