I always like Warhorses, (Peabody in Alexandria). Also like Lumberjacks, (Patterson), for originality.

I always thought "Gryphons" was badass when we played them. Small little school but they had great sports uniforms - their football team looked exactly like the "Dirty Birds" Falcons of the 1990's - black and siver with the cool logo. Their basketball uniforms looked EXACTLY like the classic Michael Jordan Bulls. Even down to the little triangle on the shorts with the Gryphon logo instead of the Bull. I'm old, so this was way before Nike and Adidas got into high school uniforms - there weren't many schools in NOLA metro area that had slick uniforms.
This was before Harry Potter kind of ruined the whole Gryphon / Griffon thing.

My Dad went to Bonnabel the year it opened, and told me that they had a vote to name the new mascot. Apparently the Abominable Snowmen overwhelmingly won the popular vote. But the parish wouldn't approve of it, so they became the Bruins.
