So do I need to start worrying about driving back to Dallas from La after Christmas?

I guess I need to start worrying about my travel from Alex to NOLA and back again for Christmas

No but I hope you’re not planning on driving - period - from the 29th through the 2nd. GFS dumps a metric frick ton of sleet on Texas then.

My concern. Plan to head back on the 26th to avoid this issue. Just want to be sure I won’t catch any ice in La that would prevent me from getting back before the Dallas apocalypse.

Latest GFS: “Epic” cold is gone from 25th-28th, but another scenario occurs that could drop frozen precip from 28-30. It’s gonna be a fun winter folks.

We know this much. There’s potential for either cold, snow, or both 12/24-31

wait... if this particular GFS plays out in real life... Shreveport would be covered in ice/frozen rain/snow from essentially noon on the 27th to 6 pm on the 30th?

Looks like I will be needing a shite load of firewood. Guess I need to start bringing more up to the house along with the genset today. Was set last cold snap due to these threads.

If we really get this weather, there will be a shite load of power outages.

What has been interesting about this Winter is that the peninnisula of Florida is as hot as ever. We usually are warmer than Baton Rouge by only about 10 degrees or so during cold outbreaks, but this year we’re 20-40 degrees warmer. The jet stream seems to be staying well to our north persistently. This will be the third year in a row that we’ll have mid 80’s on Christmas Day. I hate it. We may just have to embrace it and go to the beach for Christmas.
