I'm not the one predicted the demise of Western Civilization because of a smoking ban.

Revenue is actually up in most NO bars since the ban.

Most businesses I bet are better for it. Less to clean and maintain.

Stop spewing non-sense.

It was the same here in NYC.

No I understand that. I'll take the victory for now.

It is ok for people to oppose it, right?

But outright banning the act of smoking indoors is a clear overreach to me.

They already do this in pretty much every other business now though. Name another place, besides a bar, where you can actually smoke inside?

Excellent, let's get right on the repeal of that ridiculous over-reach.

Yeah and none of them are fricking BARS. Do you really not see the difference? I don't advocate allowing smoking in hospitals or nursing homes.

It was bad in NO, the smokers could only hold out a couple of weeks then things went right back to normal. Much bitching.

Which proves the fact people go to bars to drink and get laid, not smoke.

So bars are the only businesses that have the right to determine if people smoke inside in your eyes?

You had no issue when other businesses banned smoking inside? Not talking about a hospital or nursing home either.

Again, same here, and this is coming from someone that still smokes occasionally.

I like you as a poster, but we heavily disagree on this issue.

nobody has an issue when a business bans smoking. The issue is when the government bans smoking at a private establishment.

That's cool

I mean if they wanted to vote again to allow smoking in bars here I'm not gonna be protesting against it or anything. I'll still go to bars and just deal with the smoke again.

I'm just saying, from experience in a city that has had a smoking ban in place for SEVERAL years now, that this ends up not being that big a deal as all of you protesting this thinks it will be.

No.

I do have an issue with that if it's an action taken by the government. A business or industry making that determination on its own accord is a different story.

Smoking bans aren't shutting down bars or really making them hurt. The smoking ban is amazing in Tennessee. Glad I don't have to deal with that garbage anymore. So weird to go somewhere it's still allowed.
