You WASPy Hockey fans can boo all you want..

Mayor Broome was elected by racial line and FUBU Politics and party line...competency doesn't matter..

Think it's bad now? Just wait until Chauna Banks or Gravy get a turn as Mayor. You'll be missing your WBRZ field reporter running the show.

ETA: Kip Holden the best Mayor in my lifetime..by a country mile.

Agreed…which proves everyone wrong who claim some don’t like broom bc of the color of her skin. Kip was great…broom is an incompetent buffoon at best.

She's going to retaliate by doing nothing to keep a hockey team here.

That's on top of her already busy workload of doing nothing to add in the new parking meters downtown, or doing nothing with the $225 million to clear up drainage issues, or doing nothing in dealing with crime issues, or doing nothing on all the traffic improvements voters agreed to fund 7 years ago.

Broom gets a pass from the media. It's to the point where I don't trust any of them anymore.

You can't look at that performance and not report on how horrible it is. That's insulting. Even the Business Report is picking up her slack.

If she were actively drowning, I'd do nothing to save her.

She's incompetent at best. It's most likely far worse than that. She needs to step down.

The idea is that if these games are well attended, BR might get a team in that league next season.

Baton Rouge has already been awarded an expansion team to start playing nest season.

Absolutely. And that's because he found someone that is accustomed to managing people to run most of the executive offices for him. Holden was smart enough to know that a politician's core competency isn't in getting their hands dirty with a wide variety of critical needs like garbage collection, drainage, roads, etc. - He found a non-political person that was competent and experienced in that arena to do that for him. And it worked pretty damn well. The city faced two major disasters under his watch that could only be mitigated, not prevented (Flood and the terrorist shooting on Airline Highway). Everything else was handled very well.

No city is perfect. But Baton Rouge really needs 3 things to line up perfectly for the city (and the region) to thrive.

1. The governor has to not actively work against the region or be anti-business (party doesn't matter)
2. The mayor has to be good. (party doesn't matter)
3. LSU's system president has to be competent - this one is actually nuanced and more complicated.

Right now the only star lining up for the region is that the LSU system president is surprisingly competent and strategic. If you have the other two, you can handle almost any problem, natural disaster, and actually make Baton Rouge a place that young people want to move to....not one that they have to move to for work/jobs.

We don't even need Broom to be as good as Holden. We just need her to be the mayor for everyone and to actually do a thing. Instead she's Empty Suit Broom. None of her executive departments even give a shite anymore. Nothing gets addressed unless the news covers it. Everything gets ignored because there's a shortage of competency and an abundance of apathy.

Aw man, imagine if Kip the GBRMOAT was still in power last night. He'd be out on the ice in full goalie pads, with stick and glove.

I missed the first half of the first period trying to get in , but I know the refs were booed!
I also spent all of the second period in line at the concessions to get my grandson nachos, only to finally arrive at the counter to be told there was no more cheese for the nachos.
The game was great, but the River Center dropped the puck on handling the event.

Yes it is true. I was at the game and she was booed to the point it was hard to hear her talk.

And people would have clapped for him

I don’t deny she’s extremely unpopular but I’m not sure many of her supporters would be at a hockey game anyway
