Your initial post before edit said 32. That’s wrong. That’s commended. Means nothing.
And correct about Catholic finalists. 17 semi and 16 finalist. One of the kids didn’t do what he needed to do to get finalist for Catholic.
And again my iniyual post was right. 25 is way off and a completely fabricated number.

You can jerk it to all the NMS winners you want , but get back to me in 10 years and let me know what those guys are doing, then I'll be impressed...

I’m sure it makes you feel better to say something like that. But odds say the majority of these guys will be mechanical engineers, doctors and rocket scientists.

They might turn out to be serial killers as well...

Also true, but at least they won’t have student loans from tuition to pay off.

It's funny, you can promote all the smart kids you want... It's easy if you just take kids who are already at the top of their class.
What does Catholic and Jesuit do for the average or student who struggles..?
Take a kid who struggles, get him into college and have him graduate, then I'll be impressed again...

They end up civil engineers from lsu like the rummel kid from above. (Kidding!)

Thanks for proving my point...
Rummel did a hell of a job....
I guess that would be more of a dig on LSU though...

Probably 3 MDs, 1DDS, 1PhD, 5 engineers, 2 guys working as political staffers, 2 dropouts, 2 business majors working in finance.
Eta: Maybe take 1 away from finance and 1 staffer and put 2 teachers, with 1 probably teaching abroad.

2002. Only 1 kid from my elementary school applied to SMHS (then bishop) first. The ones that didn’t get into CHS all ended up at SMHS
I left STM to go to Catholic in 1999. Half of my friends chose to go to SMHS.

I was at Catholic at the same time as this dude. He’s a joke.

Why are they struggling? Are they reasonably bright kids who just have a hard time focusing or keeping up with schoolwork?
If that's the case then an all-male school (fewer distractions) with a structured discipline program will likely help.
If it's a kid who tries but just struggles with grasping concepts and learning? Then Catholic is probably a bad choice. That said, plenty of dumb as bricks kids graduate from CHS every year, go to college, and do well. College these days (especially non-engineering) is 75% effort and 25% intelligence.
The darker side of private school, especially the more prestigious ones, is that a student who is struggling academically and unlikely to graduate will be "asked to leave" so that it doesn't count against the school.

Their website had 32 and 25
I assumed 32 was semis and 25 was finalists
Turns out 32 was commended, 25 semi finalist, and 19 were finalist
The only point of the entire post was Catholic and Jesuit are in their own tier. Jesuit only having 19 only furthers the point Catholic and Jesuit are close as hell

You’re right they are close. But Jesuit is always way up there.
But you still got it wrong. Jesuit had 19 semifinalists. 10 commended. 3 “other” which is usually a Hispanic recognition (and they are very casual with their identification of Hispanic)
Not sure how many ended up finalists. Usually the two schools make sure they do what they need to do to get finalist if they were semi finalist.

ADHD is a real thing... I probably had it, but back then I was just know as a "hyperactive" kid...

Bingo...
My daughter is at Dominican and she struggles... But she's passing with the help of tutors..
They couldn't give a shite if she passes or not... Pisses me and my wife off...
My wife, who was a Dominican grad, was trying to talk her into going to another school fit more for her, but she doesn't want to.

A lot of the kids that end up at St. Michael go to Most Blessed Sacrament (pK-8).

Can’t speak for all but Catholic definitely wasn’t like that. If you struggled academically they catered to you to try and help as best they could
You had to be a frickup outside of academics to get asked to leave.
Now the Catholic elementary school here in Mandeville by my house? 100% they just ask any kid that struggles to leave. Not really out of anger they just don’t have any capability to deal with it
The public school will do everything in its power to help struggling kids
