Ever seen Fight Club where they make them wait outside in the porch for a while to test the resolve to join. It is something similar … you need to go everyday and walk around the synagogue and pick up loose change on the ground. They will notice and eventually let you in.

Only on the mother's side will your ancestry matter to be a REAL part of the club. You CAN convert if you basically devote your whole life to it to prove you aren't just some goyim.... you'll be a barely relevant goyim, when you complete the cycle. Cheers.

Danny Duberstein did it.

They tell you no three times. On the fourth time the rabbi will let you move forward but you need a good reason for the change.
