I have two units. Both are entirely outside. the smaller one if for my upstairs, and the normal size one (the one being replaced) is for my main level and basement.

4100 is a great deal

I paid about 7K for mine 9 years ago

Do you know what brand they quoted?

Is it a heat pump or does it have a gas piggyback?

$4100 isn't much for a new AC unit

Those aren't entirely outside units.

So it might not be a good deal

We paid close to $7,000 back in 2015. Depends on how big your house is, and thus how “big” of an AC unit you need.

Go online. You can buy a drip pan, filter housing, condenser and air handler with furnace and evap coil for $1800. Install the equipment yourself. Its not complicated. Then hire an independent guy and pay him the $3-400 to sweat the lines and charge the unit.

TOTAL = $2200

Hey off topic but if that's a pic of your home that mulch is a bit high on the brick,can really cause you probs down the road.

thanks. that isn't my home. I had a termite problem a few years back and got rid of all my mulch- only rock landscapping

What you pictured doesn’t have any air handler or evaporator coil. You have a lot more to your system inside.

Really not much anyone here can tell you without knowing what size home you have, but that price is pretty standard for a home with about 3 bedrooms.

There is not a lot of difference between the top end units and low end.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. I'm all about being thrifty(or cheap as my kids say), but there's a ton of difference between a Chinese POS vs. a Trane or Carrier.
