Still doesn't make it the farmer's fault. He's looking at what impacts the market, and because he knows the market, understands that those things will affect price.
If most of the catch is peeler size crawfish because of cooler weather, then the size that restaurants want is going to come at a premium.
It still boils down to one simple thing: farmers don't set the price. At the end of the day, they are only getting what a restaurant or processor is willing to pay, and that is largely based on what the restaurant can get.

Its the same ole farmers getting interviewed year after year. They don’t speak for most farmers. I’ve always been honest and transparent with people when they ask about crawfish.

Exactly.
We all joke about the reasons for the increases during demand times, but that's SOP.
Nobody wants to see people out of business, especially in Louisiana.
