I'll be in Orange Beach Labor Day weekend. On a scale of 1 to 10, how dead am I?

You are worse off for being in Orange Beach for Labor Day than any hurricane. I live in Orange Beach and we always stay at the beach club in Fort Morgan during that weekend or anywhere else we can find for that matter; way less crowded place to be.

GFS kills it next Wednesday. Get a little stronger in the short term and then dies out. Who knows what the models will be showing tomorrow. Yesterday it was going to be a category 2 hurricane, tonight models showing it dissipates around the Greater Antilles.

Bottom line is that weather is hard to predict.

Not so much.. the GFS has been an outlier most of the way. ECMWF has always had it dying in the caribbean (or a bit before). The GFS is finally dropping its insane doomsday solutions and getting in line.

This is why you don't go all in with 14 day models.

I was staying up late enough to check out the 12Z euro as it came in... and it progs it as an open wave by the time it gets to the antilles. too much dry air, too much shear, not enough GFS insanity.

So .. so much for the OT amateur chasers talking about very little shear and that this could be a cat 5 monster in the gulf ?

Not if you are Nash.

Hell, I remember him predicting Betsy way back in 1965.

Danny is looking very healthy this morning but is insanely small, it could probably fit within the eye of the giant typhoon Atsani!
