I just don't see it making it, especially moving at 10mph. Look at the map showing the dry air. We are talking a good 4-6 straight days in that mess.

If she ends up just chugging through that, after grazing the Greater Antilles - won't be much fight left. Might not even be a bad thunderstorm.

I say this with all modesty, the only hurricane that actually scared me with the satellite picture was Katrina. We were right, but for the wrong reasons. If the levees hadn't failed, it would have been a 1-week story, maybe.

What does all of this mean?

That nature gave everyone a big "F U, I do what I want"

Danny has gone gang busters even with lots of dry stable air all around. The low shear allowed it to maintain strong convection long enough to get going and fend off the dry air - long story short. There is a lot more going on but that is the jist of it.

so when are we going to start talking about these other 2 waves signified by the 2 yellow Xs?

the 1 off the African coast has a 30% chance of development over the next 5 days

the 1 in the middle of the Atlantic has a 50% chance of development over the next 5 days

98L could make some people nervous but way too early for speculation.

kinda funny how the 4 pm advisory comes out just as the eye closes and it doesn't really present as a cat 3 anymore.
