Amana is a division of Whirlpool... so that's strange.
But from my experience, something is sacrificed in "simple" appliances when you opt for unnecessary features (touch screens, micro-chip programming, wi fi connectivity...why on that last one?)... especially on longevity, as that stuff wears out. Also, "new hip mod expensive washing machines" tend to not have an agitator in the center... and I think they are less effective for that reason.
I can't tell you how many programmable coffeemakers my wife has been through in a decade... the clock/programming circuit boards fry out (imagine electronics housed right in something working by heat and steam wouldn't hold up?)... I give her credit for finally realizing "hey, I just got the cheapest coffee maker that only turns on or off and has no clock, and a wi fi plug to go on the end, so can just set that up for me so I can use the Alexa app to set a time for it to brew in the morning?"
