Dentists and doctors can't always plan exactly perfectly for ever scenario they may face. They don't really know what they're dealing with until they actually see/examine you.

They could have booked someone else for your hour. YOu didn't show up, you cost them money.
On the bright side, by him not showing up...the schedule got back on time and the next few people were probably seen at their scheduled appointment time.

It is pretty standard to charge for no show appointments if you do not call ahead of time to let the office know. That is a block of time when they could have scheduled someone else.
This. You took up a slot of their time that they could have a paying patient. How are you faulting them for charging you for wasting their time?

Get e better dentist. I’m actually sitting in my dentists chair right now. Ive never waited more than 5 minutes past my appointment time. They actually called me earlier today ask if I could move my appointment back 15 minutes so that had time to finish an earlier procedure.

I wouldn’t pay it and would find another dentist . 1st time deserves a pass multiple times sure make them prepay . It’s a joke the amount of times I have waited over 30 minutes to an hr past scheduled time . They don’t discount my bill for their inability to schedule
Couple of dentist I have been to always had me in within 15 minutes . These were the ones that always reminded me of my appointment. Sure it isn’t a coincidence

Just got billed $55 for a missed appointment.
I would mail them .55 cents.

Hey, boats don't buy themselves.

The point is still valid, most solo general dental practices have an overhead of 60% or higher. That overhead keeps ticking regardless of whether there’s a patient there or not. So when you just fail to show up you are significantly financially burdening the practice.

My 1st cousin the dentist, actually been ADA President, fires his hygienists who "push" products. My grandmother, not related to him at all, made 1 single complaint against a hygienist through me, gal was gone the next day.
Sounds like a dick.

Yeah because it's dicks that get elected by their peers to the highest positions in their professional organizations.
Idiot, who has to remind you how to breathe?

Send them the invoice back saying you agree to pay, but there's a $55 processing fee on your end, ending in a zero balance.

Something tells me the OP dowsnt give a shite about other people and their time so I’m not surprised that he’s surprised

You occupied 1 hour of their time by not showing up. You should have to pay. They scheduled YOU, and didn't schedule someone else.
They probably booked 4 other people at the same time like our dentist does. They didn’t lose any money on that time slot

Send an invoice for not seeing you on time from a prior visit. Make it for $55 and propose you call it even.

You owe them nothing. You didn't show up, they performed zero services. While it was a dick move to not show up without cancelling/rescheduling, you don't owe them anything.

Opt out of their messaging system.

I understand that logic, but when you make an appointment for 8am and don’t get seen till 9...my time is valuable to me too
Go to a better dentist. I never wait more than 5 minutes for my dentist or doctor appointments. But I'm also not an idiot and schedule it first thing in the morning instead of lunch time when everyone is going.

Also, you can not pay it, but you’ll be sent to collections.
Then you send them a letter asking for verification of the debt when collections contacts you and dispute it on your credit report if it is on there.
It's $55; I can't see how any company wants to spend too much time working for that small amount - that includes the dentist's office or any collections company.

Sounds like a good plot for a Seinfeld episode.
