Alright, make your case. Let's hear the argument.
I'd like to hope the poster meant this as the claim/fake crisis of wealth inequality and proposed redistribution is at the heart of nearly issue the country faces. Meaning the problem of fake problems is the problem that needs to be dealt with.

I think it’s the opposite- I think tv news feeds people more of what they want to see.. when the story first broke, there was massive interest- so the news stayed focused on it.. all the news, not just NBC… but the story has legs b/c there’s no comparable story in history
Maybe it's anecdotal for me then. However, I wasn't any more interested in this story than any other. I have deliberately changed channels or disliked videos showing anything about it to get it off my YouTube feed, because the more they show the more I don't want to see it. In small talk, it seems like many others share my thoughts (To clarify, the small talk has always only occurred when in a room where a news clip happened to play on the tv, so it's not as though we brought it up randomly based on someone's interest).

You’re not the only one to express this sentiment - but to me, that’s just a lazy take .
The explanation as to the interest in this story is simple- millions and millions of people know who Savannah Guthrie is.. and by extension, they feel a little bit like they ‘know her’ to some extent .. whereas only a few people might know the 9 yr old girl who’s dad kidnapped her in Des Moines during a custody battle.. or the thousands of little boys raped over the decades by Catholic priests- some of us might know one of them, but they are not public people .. so the interest in the Guthrie story is 100% understandable and not out of line in any way .
Your take is not quite right. I don't think anyone is any more interested in this than any of these others stories/problems. The difference is because she is from tv and connected, it gets a ton of air time, therefore is what people are seeing and talking about. I think most people would probably rather hear much more on the stories involving children because those hit a little harder to home and more people could relate.

Agreed. If it's at 49% now, then it is soon to be irreversible. What happens when they hold the majority of the positions? You think they aren't going to push it further and recruit more of their own? How does this kind of shite seem to continually happen in the US?

re: How many Unread Emails in your primary Gmail account?
Posted by Steadyhands on 3/25/26 at 6:08 am to deeprig9
It always says 99+. I'm not sure how you get a total count, but 99.99% are unread. That account is for things that are basically junk, things you don't want clogging up your actual primary email, but occasionally you need to dig up something from it.
On my actual primary email account, usually less than a handful of things are unread. Unread emails are either new, or something I want to follow up on.

I did vote for this and am happy to pay these diesel prices versus the alternative vote that was available, which you likely voted for. High gas prices come and go. shite would have been a lot worse all around under a different administration.

a judge can not adjudicate a police or sheriff's decision, we have become a police state!!
What have we become if a judge has the ability to release a career criminal to society, against the will of the people? Surely against some ethical boundaries, which they swear an oath to withhold.
Just because a judge orders something, doesn't make it right or correct. Should all orders by judges be blindly followed because they are a judge?
This sheriff is upholding his oath to protect people. Should he violate his oath to serve orders of a judge?

Did all this, but skipped Graceland. Also, the zoo is decent, the bass pro shop is a cool visit, theres a (now a local chain) restaurant called gus's world famous chicken thats pretty good, and depending on your ride/ people with you, there is a drive through safari maybe an hour south that's good.

Tbh, prob not a whole lot of difference between the two. My s24 ultra was still really good. I've never had a phone for 2 years, so that tells the tale.
I'm sure i'll have this one also for a few years or maybe more.
I'm still rocking an S20 without issues.
I'm sure the newer systems are faster and have better picture quality, but this one does just fine.

The Trump admin chose to enact tariffs via a statute (the IEEPA) that did not authorize tariffs.
So it's basically a paperwork and process error, not necessarily a problem with any tariff. Why would any refund be issued? These are our own rules for ourselves. If the tariff rates were agreed upon and paid by these other countries, who gives a shite how we got there.
You're saying we violated our own rules set for ourselves to follow, so we determined money should be refunded? To Americans sure, otherwise, gtfo.

That's such a tired trope that always gets rolled out in these threads. Yes, there are lots of trashy pitbull owners, but there are also lots of good people who own them (I have a few friends who have one). And the nature part of it is much stronger...it's genetics.
You are probably rating your friends higher than they really are. It's been a handful of years since we had a pitbull in our household and we were a lot trashier people back then. I don't have an issue with all pitbulls as they are what they are and not all of them are vicious. It doesn't change my stance that everyone who owns a pitbull, definitely is at least a little trashy.

The difference between these is the owners. Lots of normal people have Daschunds. I've never met or seen a Pitbull owner that wasn't significantly, and even blatantly, trashy.

Grew up with a dish rag.
Now we have paper towels handy, but I use a hand towel for a day or two at a time to dry hands, and use for larger emergency spills.
Clorox wipes for the counters.
Couple of scrubbing options for the kitchen sink.

South Lafayette, Maurice, Youngsville, Broussard erea is, in my opinion, the single best area to live in the entire state.
One of the problems with this area is everyone in this area thinks it's the best place and has the best people.
I just don't care for that mentality.
The worst thing about the Lafayette area is the amount of growth versus no significant infrastructure to accommodate the additional traffic. The bad traffic in the area seems to be predominantly because 99 percent of the people drive like shite. You can't make it down a single section of roadway without running into a shitty driver.

re: Mortgage company didn’t pay property taxes from escrow and property placed on auction list
Posted by Steadyhands on 2/18/26 at 12:38 pm to Ramblin Wreck
just because you have an escrow, doesn't mean you can't just make the payment. It might leave some money tied up for a while, but if it saves some hassle and scare, worth it.
Once you knew there was an issue, you could have then paid the county directly. Your mortgage company would eventually send you a refund from the escrow account.
I know this because I just deposited my refund check today. The issue I noticed was that they weren't going to issue the payment in time. To avoid any delay or problems, I paid it and things sorted themselves out. It's been about two months, so not too bad.
