If you want to stay in the Sandestin Resort (tram access to Baytowne, Shops, Restaurants, etc), check out Westwinds for a 3BR, or Beachside I or II for 2 BR. Both are on the beach.

If you're willing to go even further than San Destin there's a little development called Carrilon Beach. The development is mostly small beach houses but has condos at the front. It's all families almost seems like no one is there

This. My parents had a condo at the terrace there for about 10-12 years. It is a short walk to the beach but you're still on that side of the highway. Pool is a little nicer since it gets early morning sun. The pool down at pelican is in the shade until the early afternoon. The pool area at the terrace isn't as crowded either. If you're more about the beach stay at pelican if you want a nicer pool do the terrace. Plus you'll be closer to mellow mushroom.
