Sure in the hell did. My parent's whipped me with either a 2x2 or a cutting board. This arse has broken several cutting boards. I wasn't a bad kid but I was curious one.

I got many spankings when I was a kid. I deserved every single one of them. I got em with bare hands, belts, fly swatters, rulers, switches, and the worst of all, paddles made of redwood from disassembled patio furniture. I probably got my last one at the age of 12. More effective punishment was implemented at that time, charging me money. That's the only thing that would shut me up. Idk about timeouts. My mom would send me to my room, but she'd have to hold the door shut to keep me in there.
It wasn't until I got older that I realized what a little a-hole kid I was.

With a belt, but I was a pretty good kid to where I may have been beat once every 2 years.

Belt, paddle with holes or even made to go pick my own switch to get whipped with.

Always deserved it (wasn't whipped often)
Did not make me fear my parents
Timeouts did not phase me
Got spanked with my dad's leather belt.
Took a few whippings for my little sister because I didn't want to see her crying, and spankings never made me cry.
ETA: Spankings were only till about 10, after that the punishment was much more severe. Got my Nintendo taken away or forced to miss sports games but still had to dress out and siton the bench.
Did not make me fear my parents

This is a hundred times worse then an arse spanking with a belt. My mom is a little lady so when my dad was at work or not available this was the punishment. I would much rather an arse whipping. I still kid my mom that my knees are shot to hell as a 35yr old because of her punishment methods.

Yup and my brother got our share.....deserved each one I suppose. Usually a belt. I'm no worse for the wear and did not fear my parents.
I still spank my little knothead (5 yr. old) with a wooden spoon. He has earned each and every one. He does not fear me nor do I expect him to....but he respects me. Part of the problem is that he's ornery and full of piss and vinegar. Loves aggravating the shite out of his older sister which is the source of most of his spankings.

Yes and Yes, with a belt or hand usually. Timeouts work for certain kids, but not all
I didnt fear my parents as in seeing them made me trimble in fear. But I definitely respected them and I was afraid to do wrong because I knew the consequences of my actions. I knew not to play around or test them, when they say something they mean it. I only got a few whoopings as a child. In baseball 3 strikes youre out, with my parents you have 2 and youre done
1st strike-A stern warning
2nd strike-Belt/ timeout(Depending upon severity of my actions)
For example, me arguing with my brother and not letting him watch tv= timeout. Me telling my dad "No I will come home when I want", and coming home when I wanted after he told me to be in by a certain time resulted in the belt.
But when they did whoop me, it was with purpose. They would sit in the room with me for what felt like hours(it was probably only 5 minutes
) They would sit and be nice and everything, Im praying and pleading they have a change of heart. But no, after I begin to let my guard down around them, they come in for the kill. And after they were done, they would then proceed to lecture me about why what I did was wrong and all of that good stuff. They whooped me mentally and physically, and the mental whoopings were far worse!

Yes, deserved ittoo. Usually a hand, or switch, got a 1x4 once, didnt deserve that one, well not to that extent.
I had a healthy amount of fear of my dad, not so much of mom, she's a softy.
Never got timeouts, doubt they would have worked.
I have 2 kids now, oldest is 2, he gets spanked, one swat with my hand is enough to get my point across. Youngest is 3 months, too young to spank but I'm sure she will get plenty.
Didn't affect my relationship with my parents, still very close.

I got the belt. I'm pretty sure that my Mom regrets it and considers it to have been ineffective.
ETA: I'm pretty sure that I started behaving better consistently when they decided to stop when I was about maybe 7 or so. There was something about my Dad telling me that I was too old for spankings and it was time for me to simply start acting right that seemed to put things into perspective for me. For some reason I took the responsibility seriously. I was always scared of being perceived as childish when I was a child. Kinda funny.
