Not bad. Clean and close to bus stops. Good for the cost.

So I guess that's a YES on the Port Orleans FQ. Thanks for the replies.
And I think the best meal we had as Disney was at the Ohana meat feast at the Poly. Morris (pronounced Maurice) our flaming waiter put 50 shrimp on my plate, and I felt obliged to eat them all.

Definitely a great meal there. The best meal I've ever had on property though, was at Citrico's at the Grand Floridian. We just booked it because we hadn't been there. I never really heard any opinions on the place before going. But the meal we had there was fantastic.

I'll have to try that. We also really enjoyed the Liberty Tree Tavern in magic Kingdom.

Not worth it.
Just spend the extra money and stay at The Boardwalk or the Yacht and Beach Club.

Disney Peeps - tell me about the Port Orleans resort
We stayed at port orleans riverside. It was really nice. Beautiful grounds. Where our room was, was a short walk to the bus stop. It was the last stop on the bus route so we just hopped on the bus and got off at the park we were visiting that day. When we go again, i wouldn't mind staying here. Though i really want to stay at animal kingdom and wake up to giraffe's outside my window...

I'm very tempted to do this, but the cost is a factor.

We stayed at Port Orleans riverside a few weeks back and it was great. Much better than the all star resorts. One piece of advice I can give you is use one of the bus stops closer to the building you're staying in. Whenever they pick up they go to these first and you can generally get a seat because you get on before the people at the main bus stop in front of the food court, which can get pretty crowded in the morning.

Well, we went last October and my son just turned 1. So we want to go back again when he's big enough to ride the rides, so maybe in about 3 years. By then, we should have the scratch to watch the wildlife frolic.

This is a really nice resort. It is a bit off to the side as compared to some of the other resorts. Among the better themed Disney resorts IMO. I believe you have to pay extra to get a room closer to the animals.

The best thing to me about the Disney resorts, is there's a few that will suit you better than others.
The All-Star resorts are just fine, since you'll spend minimal time at the room when you're not sleeping. If you're spending a lot of time at the rooms, you're having a very different kind of trip than me and my family do, and our stays are never less than a week.
Of the moderate resorts, my favorite is Caribbean Beach, although I haven't stayed at Coronado Beach yet, we like the look of that, so we'll probably stay there after the next trip, we're at AoA in May.
Honestly I didn't care for either the Polynesian or the Golf Resort (which is now shades of green).
Do your research online as to what the food courts or restaurants have. That's more important than anything else IMO.

I plan on trying Citrico's next time. We did Victoria and ALbert's last time, but I'm not Baller enough to do $500 couple dinners every Disney trip, lol.
Best meal I think I ever had anywhere though.

If you are a Costco member Costco has some outstanding deals on the Disney Dolphin and Swan (near the Boardwalk) for around $200 a night and they also have a few more on property non-Disney hotels. The Wardoff had some deals as well.

We stayed at Riverside last fall and it was all good. Good service and the kids liked taking the boat
Posted on 3/29/16 at 10:06 pm to Bushmaster
We've stayed at Riverside twice now and it's by far the best moderate resort. The FQ section is nicer but it's not worth the extra $ for the time spent in the rooms. Downside of the Riverside is the walk to the Food court, etc if you're at the far end. Legit 15-20 minutes if you have the kids with you. Boatwrights there has a awesome Prime Rib. I refuse to ride the third world bus system after our first trip a few years ago so I can't comment on that. Waiting a hour in line for a bus after park closing with hundreds of others then getting crammed into it with God knows how many drunk and sweaty folks for a 30 minute ride while standing AND holding a sleeping 4 year old and heavy folded double stroller is ludicrous. You get free parking with a resort stay so it's worth it to just drive to the parks or TTC and walk back at your own pace. We were at Contemporary for a quick 3 night stay this past Christmas(flew down and rented a car) and it will spoil you being on the monorail line. I've had to enforce a 2 year ban to get that luxury out of our system haha. Told the Mrs. we may do the Polynesian in a few years for a anniversary trip. We've done the luau show there and it was one of the best things of the trip.

Well, this morning I successfully signed up myself, my wife, and my son for the Disney Wine and Dine race weekend. Wife and I are doing the challenge and my 2 yo is doing a 100m dash. Registration was crazy. All sold out in 20 minutes. Lots of stress of my shoulders now it's over though.
I think we're set on Boardwalk as the second part of our split stay. I've never stayed there or Bay Lake tower which is where we'll be for the majority of the trip.
