How do you reconcile this with the fact that literally not one person agrees with you, even the religious?

I'm not arguing you, so you have nothing to win or lose. I also don't intend to argue you. I'm just calling you stupid because if all I had to go on was your responses in this thread, I'd label you a closed minded imbecile with potential reading comprehension issues.

Not you specifically, but would anyone like to try to explain to me what happened in the incident with my step-son?

This was last December. He was shot on Thanksgiving night in the neck. The gun was a shotgun pistol, the slug pierced and completely severed his brain stem.

I'm not trying to sound all traumatic, my family is at peace over the entire situation. I just say those things in a case you understand the medical significance. SUPPOSEDLY, without a functional brain stem your body can do nothing, mentally, you're there. Physically, you are without any motion or movement. It is like that for your entire body.

How is it then that he opened his eyes, lifted his head, looked to his brothers, mother, and myself, and said he was going home?

I may come across as strange on this website, but I can assure you that my family would not strike you as a bunch of lunatics. How did this happen? Why did this happen?

Medically, it's impossible. Personally, I believe it was a reward for the faith of the family. Instead of freaking out, going nuts, ECt, at the tragedy, we prayed. We prayed and prayed and prayed. He had hundreds of people praying for him for a month.

It was his time to go home. I think God rewarded our faith and allowed him movement and speech briefly enough to ease our suffering. Understand, he wasn't saved at the time of the shooting.

That was our big fear. He wouldn't accept Christ before death. The doctors were adamant that he could hear us during those long weeks, even if he couldn't respond. We talked to him about God, and accepting him.

It is my firm belief we were rewarded from faith, and that God let us know that in affect, he had accepted him! Yes indeed! Hallelujah!

So did we all just make that up? Seriously, what do you think? Am I making this up? Must you see a link?

The child spoke, and then left this world within 30 minutes.

This country was founded on faith...maybe the problem isn't with the ones "trying to force their beliefs on this country;" maybe the problem is that you live in this country? Have you considered relocating to someplace where religion isn't allowed - like North Korea?

ctiger69, I'd like to know why you are an atheist?

What lead you to the point in life where you became an atheist?

Please provide a link to your proof in your atheism.

I'm not going to pretend that I have a viable explanation. The universe is pretty damn weird. But such anecdotes do not sway me to believe in any revealed religion.

Ross, you are an idiot. I always thought that about you. You are intellectually inferior to me and I'm your daddy. Go back to the SEC board kid. The grownups are talking.

Recognize when you've won. Usually, these people will never see that you've truly won the argument. However, you can. At a certain point when you've backed him into a corner with no arguments left to say against you, the only thing he's got left is his insults. At this point, you know that you've won the argument, even if he does not accept this point. You can choose to walk away here, if circumstances allow.

You haven't won shite. You pretty much only responded to one poster and didn't offer any kind of argumentative context to really call this a debate.

Again, sorry to hear about your son. But crazy shite happens. That story doesn't lead me to believe there is no other explanation other than God personally involving himself in your life.

The Calvinist Puritans where escaping Europe which was embroiled in the 30 Years' War. They were seeking a place where government couldn't make their religion illegal, as was happening in Europe.

There weren't any economic reasons for why European countries founded colonies. Nope.

I'm not. I'm a Christian. I was asking one person about their atheist believes and several people became upset. Later morons like Ross joined in to hold the other posters jockstraps.

That is all.
