100% agree.

Also, 100% the reason why I had issues.

I have a friend of mine who used to work at LSU. She got robbed at knife point in her building's parking lot. At 8:00am in the morning.

It took the campus police 10 minutes to arrive.

But by all means find the money to hire a diversity director.

Dangerous school? no.

I do believe some off-campus spots are less desirable than others.

LSU getting a lot of negative publicity lately. Had a buddy who is a die hard LSU fan say he Does not think he can send his daughter (no pics) there next year.

Your buddy is turning liberal and watches to much CNN. Crime is a common occurrence in our everyday life because the media shoves it down our throat. Just because 2 people get carjacked at 1:30 am off Greenwell Springs & N. Lobdell doesn't mean the LSU campus is unsafe or dangerous.

Actually, your friend could send his daughter to Pepperdine as the surrounding area in Malibu is could be just as safe/dangerous as Baton Rouge. Drugs, crime, and murders happen everywhere today as you have to use common sense on where you go and at what time of the day/night.

My vote - send her to LSU where she will have the time of her life !

Compared to other SEC schools/towns I would say it is more dangerous. The area around campus has gone down quite a bit.

How can you send your daughter to any college when 20% of women on campuses are sexually assaulted?

You got any sauce for that claim?

Step outside the North Gates past Aster St, yes it is dangerous, considering you’re right in the hood. Do people from NBR use Highland Rd that takes them right through the heart of campus, yes, and crime will happen because these people are looking for prey and opportunity.

SWB has even proposed a CATs transit line connecting Plank Rd to LSU, so there’s that. If you keep your head on a swivel leaving Middleton past midnight and be aware of your surroundings, you’ll be good,

Wonder how many times this happens and is not reported by school administration?

LSU sounds like Saint Louis University

Stuck right in middle, and gets a bad rap about crime, because of shitheads who live North of University come down to find victims, since many are easy prey..

SLU continues to buy up land, as soon as it becomes available. Has LSU done the same???

they have tried to put space in between them and the shitheads, as much as they can. With them being just blocks or so away, they can easily just walk near campus and cause trouble.

I would say so amongst other schools only because it’s located within a city (one which has a lot of crime on top of that).

Most universities are in smaller ‘college towns’ where everything revolves around a student body for the most part. I would be nervous sending a kid to a place like LSU or Texas (even tho Austin has very low crime) only because there are too many outside influences and more dangers than being in a smaller town primarily focused on students and the university.

Depending how you look at it you can make any college seem like a dangerous school to attend.

I don't find it dangerous. Tell her to find a good group of friends and to keep her head on straight. She'll have the best 4 years of her life

All colleges are dangerous then because the majority of them are in the bad parts of town because it’s cheaper housing and cheaper land around universities. It’s just the way it is

Yes. The scary black men will not harm his daughter (unless she goes north of campus, or takes the wrong route home from Tigerland...)
