I’m sorry that you’re so poor.

I'm very close to doing so this summer.
Mowing roughly three times every two weeks now, and while I don't mind it, it takes up a lot of time I could be doing something else with the kids.

My grass and weeds are beserk. For what people charge around here, it will be cost ridiculous sums to have it maintained every 1 to 2 weeks.

Nope. Don’t want to be a bad example for my son. I can’t imagine sitting in my house while another man mows my grass.

Only lazy people do this.
Unless you have multiple acres, there is no reason to waste money on it when it can be done yourself. Now, the next comment will be “my time is too valuable”. Again, unless it’s multiple acres, it doesn’t take that long.
Bottom line, it’s laziness.
It is relative; the more money you have, the more valuable your time becomes. This sets aside the people who actually enjoy maintaining their lawn. I am agnostic, I don't love nor hate it, so I started paying for it when the amount became relatively small.
I do most of the DIY work around the house because, in general, I enjoy doing that, and the time and effort getting a competent contractor in to do the work is often far more than the time it takes me to do it myself.

Lol, that’s the best you can come up with.
Not poor because I’m not a lazy frick who can’t even take care of his own lawn. I bet you are great in yhe kitchen though, Betty Crocker

I have a crew that cuts mine. Spending hours cutting, weed eating, and blowing, not to mention maintenance on a mower and a weed eater, having to go get gas or string, taking the blade to get sharpened, etc. is not for me. I did it for a while and I'd be stupid to not pay someone $40 to do all that for me with a riding mower and an edging and blowing crew right behind him. Plus, in the summer I can focus on running and not being dog arse tired from doing all the above

Not true. I know a lot of “rich” people who do their yards themselves. They don’t believe in wasting money on something so easy to do. Like I said earlier, unless it’s multiple acres, it doesn’t take that long to do. I have 3/4 of an acre I do in less than an hour. I like wasting my money on other endeavors.
ETA: I actually like doing my yard so this is a non-issue from the start.

You have to be poor, because you consider paying someone a trivial amount of money to cut grass as being a “waste”. And then you try to justify it by calling them lazy.
There’s no other explanation, really. There are more valuable things that I can do with my time than cutting the grass.

I love how many on this board attribute some sort of moral virtue (and now apparently manliness) to mowing grass.

In fact, many take pride in maintaining their own lawns and gardens. If someone else does it for you, its not your work to take pride in.

I don’t pay to have my grass cut because I care about my lawn.
1. I can’t trust others to keep their blades remotely sharp.
2. Other people’s yards are full of weeds, which may get transferred to my grass from the lawn mower they use.
3. I have a hybrid Bermuda and wouldn’t trust anyone to cut it like I can with my reel mower.

I mix it up. Sometimes I do it and sometimes if there’s someone cutting a neighbors yard, I’ll ask em if they want to do mine too.

Lol, again with the same lazy remark. I mow every week, takes around 45 minutes (all aspects). Minimum for someone to cut my yard would be $50 a week. 4 hours a month versus spending $200, I’m good.
What do you do with all that spare time you save? Sit on here and shitpost?

yes for 15 years now, same guy. He’s a teacher at Hammond High and does yards as a side gig. He shows up 2x a month with 2 students and knocks it out
I mowed that shite long enough; it’s well worth it
How much does he charge you?
