Have you been to Uptown? Easily one of America's most beautiful neighborhoods. Don't be a hater.
Not saying parts of NOLA aren't nice. You can have positives and still be overrated .
New Orleans as a whole just isn't that great.

If we have to resort to comparing BR to third world countries we are not really making a compelling argument.
I wasn’t comparing it to a third world country. Just from reading this thread, I guess I’m the only one who doesn’t hate BR. I like being going for a run around the lakes, through the LSU campus, along the levee or through downtown BR. I like that I can meet friends at Tin Roof, Southern Craft fora beer after work or for happy hour somewhere after work on a Friday afternoon. I like that I can tailgate with friends and attend LSU football games during the fall and baseball games in the spring. Just like any place else, BR has it’s negatives but it ain’t as bad as some of you miserable baws make it out to be.

I would move in a heartbeat if I could. This isn't the city for me personally, and it really never has been. My parents joked I was switched at birth my entire life, and nothing has changed.
I don't ~hate~ BR, but it simply isn't for me. The south in general, really.

What’s keeping you here, LL?
For me it’s just the band I play in with my friends and my finances (I don’t have enough savings to pack up and move without already having a job lined up where I’m going).

No really though. It seems like you need some help getting back on your feet

I'm fortunate enough to be able to spend a week in the two cities I'd most want to live in every 3-4 months. When you're visiting, you get to enjoy all of the best things the city has to offer because you aren't living there crippled by their high cost of living.
Almost everyone I know who lives in these cities has to sacrifice things I'd never want to give up in order to live there and afford their rent.
What's the point in living in a food mecca, for example, if you can't actually afford to enjoy the places?

That makes sense on some level.

Honestly, I’d consider it if I hadn’t lost most of my equipment in the flood. I’ve done a fair amount of interior painting, but not too much exterior. I still have a decent ladder and rollers, though. If you want me to take a look at it and give an estimate, email me at bryndenblackfish@yahoo.com

Baton Rouge...where the question, "Where did you go to school?" is in reference to high school ??

That ain’t just br. That’s Louisiana in general. It’s the way people are wired. Not just a br thing.

I dislike living in Louisiana and I was born and raised here. Currently live in Mandeville and still want to go.

Be thankful you’re in Mandeville. You could definitely do much worse in La than Mandeville

Lived in BR from 2009 to 2014. It sucks. Lacked any culture or redeeming qualities. I was going to New Orleans every weekend so I just went ahead and move there instead
