I don't even know what food is good and what is bad. She been eating Costco food, Purina dog chow, Pedigree canned beef and chicken. She loves the chicken.

1. Lock up anything you don't want her to chew.
2. Buy a shite ton of chew toys and leave them with her when you're gone.
3. Put a Tennis Ball inside of a dirty sock and tie up both ends of the sock so she can't remove it. It makes for a fun toy that will last a few weeks that she will love.

I guess I left out "she doesn't want to be an outside dog"

She has to be right now. She has hookworms, fleas, ear mites and thankfully not heartworms.

some stuff just takes time to be honest

ideally, you probably want to crate train your dog and have it sleep there

my dog didnt like his crate for a while, i just had to stick with it, keep rewarding him for being in it and now he'll just grab a bone and go lay down in it like it's his EZ chair or something

I have no idea how to do that either. She slept in it the first night and now doesn't go near it really.

My g/f researched it pretty hard. We get the Purina ProPlan. It costs about as much as the decent other brands and always seems to be on sale at either Petsmart or Petco.

We talked to the vet and he said that the Blue brand that a lot of people buy is no good. They put too much something in it...can't remember what....but it can be harmful long term.

That's some shitty dog food.

Go down the expensive aisle at PetSmart

I know I'm in the minority here but I don't agree with buying the dog a lot of chew toys. Why? Because it tells the dog it can basically chew anything. I've had a lot of success in giving my dogs 1 chew toy at a time.

treat the crate like it's her special place

put treats in it, toys, etc

when she goes in it, praise her

NEVER make her go in it as punishment, you don't want her to associate anything bad with being in the crate

I followed this exactly and it worked. We used the crate for him when we would leave and at night. He has since earned our trust to be alone in the house and he sleeps in our room so we just use it on trips.

Why would you make a toy out of an item you don't want them chewing on? Seems like you are setting yourself up to have socks chewed up in the future.

The people we got her from said she was a very picky eater and would only eat dog chow. So that's what we bought. This dog isn't picky. She eats anything and everything. I think she may have just hated her living arrangements so bad she wasn't eating. But I can buy the good stuff.

Definitely put a cover. I wouldn't put a bed in there because she will destroy it no matter how tough the bed claims to be. Don't give your dog the opportunity to do something bad.

Funny you mention that....I think there was a guy on here who posted a while back that something like this back fired on him.

I'll be surprised if that sock lasts more than a day
