I know of one camp that was located in the TX panhandle near Hereford. Interesting place and stories, for sure.

There was a POW camp at Camp Plauche in Harahan. A guy my dad did business with for years was an Italian POW and met and married an American nurse that worked in the camp infirmary. He had a successful construction business and I remember he traveled back to Italy yearly to visit family. In later years he was convicted of income tax evasion and spent a couple of years in prison.
