Luckily, BRPD officers attend hours of exstensive, scientifically validated training that goes a lot further than this. In 1975, this might have been the standard but things have evolved

Need that training to collect all that revenue.

Look, I am all for getting drunk drivers off of the street. However, the bar has been raised so low that many of people that are not impaired are being arrested. Many people that are not cops.
Do you really think cops treat each other the same as they treat us ?

They should probably attend hours of extensive training as how to better use their judgement.

No. That person can show signs by driving, like changing lanes without signaling, speed, no lights, among others. You don't have to just see it on the person. Erratic driving and smell of alcohol could do it. Pass the test and no problems.

Again. You're saying every traffic violation is a sign of a possible DWI. So which is it?

Look who they hire. Maybe they need to issue them judgment along with their service weapon.

Or just simply follow the law. They can't even conduct checkpoints legally.

I look forward to reading the curriculum you come up with.

Don't get me wrong, I agree that some officers could use more common sense. However, the way you people portray them is laughable.

Most of the guys I work with took the low paying, dangerous, unappreciated job as a cop because they want to help others and do the right thing. Almost all of the young ones that get into this work for the vanity or power wash out after 4 or 5 years because the amount of shite you deal with isn't worth it for those motives.

I am well aware of the content of my post. This isn't my first rodeo.

ETA: If my superiors want to persecute me for saying a suspect in a case I had no involvement with "acted like an arse" after interfering with an investigation I will gladly fall on my sword.

Just saying, speaking publicly about evidence and calling a defendant "an arse" might be misconstrued by some defense attorneys.

I would probably start with not writing a summons for a group of people that attack a family at a gas station.

With a followup on not writing a summons for battery of a police officer after "fearing for your life" so much as to taze said person, all the while arresting the other party, the one that didnt touch you.

And a refresher on something along the lines of if you have extensive history with a suspect/other party involved then call for backup and/or a supervisor so you dont get caught in a trick bag for not being objective.

eta typo

This sounds familiar. I went through a check point a couple of years back, i was living in baton rouge at the time but had my permanent address in new olreans. i was just doing work here for several months and renting a place. When i show the officer my ID and tell him where I live currently, which was literally less than 50 yds from the checkpoint, he pulled me out the car. When i questioned why, he said because i didnt change my address. I say well i know i didnt, the place im renting is not my permanent address. Well they then want me to do field sobriety and when i said no i want to call my lawyer first, they handcuffed me and put me in the paddy wagon. I ended up spending the night in jail, full jump suite, wasnt wearing white underwear so i had to walk around naked until they let me change into one. Needless to say they threw the case out and i got to laugh at the douche while Brick Wall berated him on the stand.

You are clueless.

Berkemer v. McCarty

supports the fact that you do not have to Mirandize someone prior to SFST.

And when does a cop ever follow traffic rules? They speed, they change lanes illegally, they dont come to a complete stop. they must all be drinking and driving.

Is is there are no/few checks in that area or is it no one is reporting them to the attorney's Facebook page?

Ding ding ding ding!!!!!! They put checkpoints where they know people can afford to pay the fines, why put them where the person will sit in jail until their court date? It's a fricking sham. You are found guilty before you even have trial, you then have to pay to appeal it. My buddy's dad when i was at LSU worked in the sheriffs office and he always told us to not wear a hat while driving at night. They will find anything to pull over white college males, wearing a hat to them is cause of you trying to hide your eyes.
