The only song that has ever gotten me to that point, so far, is Hallelujah, by Jeff Buckley.

The haunting Je suis malade and Caruso by Lara Fabian

My mother is a Belgian and holds Lara Fabian, another Belgian, as royalty. I grew up in a house that was filled with songs form Belgium, France, and Italy but of all the songs I've heard, Je suis malade is one I will never tire of hearing. The original version is what I grew up on but Fabian's version is the gold standard and as you put it, haunting.

Yeah. Music should project some emotional attachment. Anyone who can't feel enough to shed tears has emotional disorders.

First time I saw the music video for Hurt by Johnny Cash, granted I'm a massive fan of him so I just remember it being a very powerful video.

Nutshell by Alice in Chains hits hard too.

During military parade when "I'm proud to be an American" and all your brothers and sisters are singing along with you having gone thru everything you just went thru & everyone is arms on shoulders swaying side to side singing. Emotional in the situation.

If I've had a few drinks while walking through one of life's storms, I've cried a time or two to Pearl Jam's "Release" or Bob Dylan's "Knocking on Heaven's Door or "Cats in the Cradle" by Cat Stevens

I will never forget attending the Texas/Texas A&M football game in 1999 that followed the Bonfire collapse.

The Longhorn Band played "Amazing Grace" at halftime and it was the most moving thing I've ever heard or saw. You could hear a pin drop when they were marching off the field.

Leader of the Band - Dan Fogelberg.

Gets me every time. Especially being that I lost my father when I was only 14.

Some group did a rendition of this recently and it made the rounds on social media over the last year or so... Makes every hair on my body stand up when it's done right.

A contestant did it on The Voice a few seasons back and I was waiting to cringe, but it was done very well.

Hallelujah Cover Michael Henry and Justin Robinett

Is this the one you're talking about? If not, check it out. It's my favorite.

Also two songs that make me think of my grandmother/grandpa:
-In Color by Jamey Johnson
-the hymn Rock of Ages. It was her favorite.

That's a good version but not the one I was thinking of.

Here's the one I was talking about. Hallelujah by Cloverton
