Still says it's underpriced even though it costs $1 to make.
While it is pretty overpriced, there is probably a reason the company selling it had to sell it.
It was most likely losing money at $13.50
Drugs take a long time to develop and a lot of money. Most don't work out. So we are paying for the research behind the drug your buying, the research behind a bunch of drugs that didn't make it to market, a mark up to turn a profit, and supply and demand.
It also doesn't have an enormous market. The smaller you drug market the more you are going to have to pay.
Also it is not an everyday AIDs drug.
Anyway there are a lot of reasons why drugs cost what they cost.

If we analyze the demographics of aids prevalence we can clearly see it is God's punishment for sin

And why does it matter to you whether he is a former hedge funder?

This drug has been off-patent since 1953.

Then why is this an issue no one is making the generic?
Posted on 9/22/15 at 2:41 pm to 504ByrdGang
Meh, hes saying he grieves when a drug goes generic....that means the profits for him are over...
Again, I fail to see the problem with him making profits on drugs that aren't generic.
Please understand these companies spend hundreds of millions bringing a drug to market. That's because of our FDA and its stupid approval process.
Make that process less expensive and the drugs would fall in price.

There were no cases of AIDS in 1953....how does that work
Posted on 9/22/15 at 2:49 pm to GeeOH
It's used treat a disease to which people with are particularly prone. AIDS is an immune system disease.

Oh here's a concept, don't put your dick in a vagina with aids or bump them like the gays in San Francisco do.
Then you won't have to worry about catching the aids.

Annually, more Americans are struck by lightening than white heterosexual american males who are not intravenous drug users get AIDS. We cool on the OT

Before founding Turing, Shkreli worked as a hedge funder who at one time was accused of trying to manipulate FDA regulations on drug companies whose stocks he was shorting, according to Gawker.
He worked with companies including Cramer, Berkowitz, & Co and Intrepid Capital Management before founding his own hedge fund when he was in his 20s.
He was once publicly scolded by Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, after writing writing scathing blog posts about companies he was shorting, accusing them of having problems.
Without success, the group urged the Department of Justice to investigate Shkreli after accusing him of 'spreading unfounded and inaccurate rumors about drugs owned by companies he was shorting'.

He was forced out of the last drug company he founded, Retrophin, which specialized in buying the rights to little-known drugs and increasing their prices.
They increased the price of a drug that treats a rare kidney disease by 2,000 per cent, according to Fusion.
Retrophin forced Shkreli out of the company and is now suing the former hedge funder for $65million, after accusations of looting the company.
According to the lawsuit, Shkreli's former hedge fund, MSMB - another company he founded - was left 'virtually bankrupt' after Shkreli made a single trade with Merril Lynch in February 2011.
Shkreli allegedly used Retrophin's funds to pay MSMB investors who had lost money in the trade, Retrophin's board of directors claims.
'Shkreli was the paradigm faithless servant,' the complaint states. 'Shkreli used his control over Retrophin to enrich himself, and to pay off claims of MSMB investors (who he had defrauded).'
On the day the lawsuit was filed, Shkreli gave a shout out to Wu-Tang Clan in a Tweet, writing, 'I am not the one to f*** with #wutang'.

Dude, this drug has been around for 60ish years. Have you really not heard about this by now?

How convenient for you to not mention this

He also just paid $55 million to acquire the rights to a drug that grosses less than $5 million a year. Less than 4000 scrips a year.
