All that's going to do is make a wrinkly mold of your feet, not put support where it is needed. Or you could get old shoes stuck on your feet as jb pointed out.

If you are getting them for exercise purposes, go to a podiatrist/orthopedist at a SPORTS MEDICINE clinic.

Some old lady at my gym who works out and runs every day recommended some guy to me several months ago. I'll ask her next time I see her. And don't laugh, this old lady works out hard.

The New Balance store in Town Center makes great custom orthotics. That's who the foot and ankle doctors at Baton Rouge Ortho send people to, fwiw.

A lot of it depends on your feet. You may be an overpronator but the proper orthotic depends on things like if your deformity is fixed or flexible.
A foot PT or a good orthotist can look at your foot, help find sub-talar neutral and then custom build an orthotic just for you.
An over the counter orthotic may help but like anything that isn't fit specifically to you, it may not perform optimally.

I have plantar fasciitis in my left foot as well. So far my podiatrist just gave me some standard inserts for my shoes. But was told as I get older I will likely need custom inserts or shoes.
If you get them let us know how they helped your PF. From all the online research I've been doing lately on PF...sounds like it is something that never really fully goes away(which sucks)

Dont do the Dr. Scholl's route where you stand on their machine and it tells you what number to get! I wore these for about a month an actually loss feeling in both of my hands/finger tips.
I had the exact opposite experience. After months of my feet killing me, I made an appt. with my podiatrist (yes, I have a podiatrist--that's how bad my feet have been). Before I went, I decided to try the Dr. Scholl's machine and buy the $50 inserts.
The help was almost immediate, and my feet were virtually pain free within 24 hours.
