Was going lesser of two evils - had a GMC prior that burned 5qts of oil every 7,000 miles and had GM tell me that was an “acceptable level of oil consumption” so i wrote off Chevy / GMC - I guess ford isn’t much better

Tops Unlimited.

The sun screen thing on mine was clicking every time I opened it so I brought it to All Star Ford to be fixed. When I got it back, there was some trash in the bed from Tops Unlimited so I guess they outsource their sunroof repairs to them.

Yeah, I was wondering why that would even exist. Does it come with a little storage area for your dental dam?

Go be unfunny somewhere else. What do you drive, a prius or a Mini Cooper?

Out of Warranty?

Check the F150 Forum on the web.

My 2014 F150 had a rear window defroster that would not work. Only solution was to change the rear windshield. Lucky I caught the warranty about two month before it expired.

My XLT doesn’t have a sun roof and I don’t see myself using it even if I had one in my truck.

I drive a Subaru Impreza, one of the old ones with the larger motor and the real four speed.

This is not a topic I find very funny. I apologize for the sarcasm. I do wonder about the sunroof thing, though.

To me, it seems like a misguided attempt to turn something that ought to be tough and utilitarian into a cool daily driver / lifestyle vehicle. I really don't get the luxury / sport truck idea. Ford Lightnings / Raptors / whatever they call them now are another example of what I find ridiculous.

I took mine to banner in Covington.. I told them I need to wait on it because I had no one to pick me up they had it fixed in 45 min. Under warranty no charge. Said it was a very common problem and that Ford is aware. Now the sunroof works but I’m leaking water from the o shite handle. Dam fords this was my first and probably my last

It clicked when opening so they replaced it. No idea what was causing it.

Or will I still have to pay ?
Honestly, I don’t know if there will be a charge or not. But at least you can bring a copy of the TSB with you-it’s only showing one hour of labor. You may want to call them and ask what their mechanical labor rate is first.

How do you repair with an Allen wrench? Would love to fix myself if possible

Any sunroof should have a manual backup to close it. Usually requires you to place a Allen wrench in it. Consult your owners manual for location

ETA: if this is such a common problem then there should be 1000 YouTube videos on fixing it yourself. If you can check the oil in your truck you can usually fix most problems that the video would cover.

Moon roofs are nice but I doubt I'd buy a truck or car with one.
It's one more thing to die.

Bingo @ member12. First ford, and probably last. Just an update - Dealership wont cover a dime as it has 45K miles on it. Called Tops Unlimited - will be anywhere from $500-1600 to get it fixed. Hoping for the $500 option but bracing myself for the worst.

As for the questions on why a pickup truck needs a sunroof.....i agree whole heartedly that it doesnt, it actually broke when my wife was trying to open it. I would have been fine without, the model i bought just so happened to have it. And for the dude with the "subaru impreza" lol you dont even belong commenting in a pickup truck thread when you drive a womans car
