Per Bloomberg Twitter:

Lion Air crash:
-Indonesia's rescue agency says they have found plane debris at crash site
-188 people were on the flight, including 3 children and 7 crew members
-Aircraft descended rapidly at about 6:31 a.m., according to Flightradar24 data

Saw something similar from Flightradar24's tracking. Said the aircraft lost altitude at a rapid rate with a dramatic increase in air speed.
Sounds like the aircraft hit the water in one piece and then broke up. Unfortunately that leaves little chance of survival.

You most certainly haven't dealt with Lockheed.

That sounds like "not an accident".

Man, that is terrible to hear. For thousands of their friends and relatives, this will be the worst day of their life.

Theres not hardly any wreckage on the surface, looks like a large sheen. Might have been vertical entering the water

I think they meant that in a "not typical increase in airspeed" manner. As if it were a nose first descent due to loss of lift/aircraft control.
No word on the cause of the incident yet, and to say it was intentional is only speculation.

Yes. The pictures of debris recovered look like it was a violent impact.
Doesn't look like a controlled water ditching.

Wow, the MAX8’s are brand new planes. Regardless of their airline quality it’s crazy that a new plane went down.
90% of the time isn't it usually found to be pilot error? They panic in an emergency or something crazy.

This is what happened Alaska Airlines Flight 261 years ago but that was due to improper maintenance. That wouldn't be the issue on a two month old plane.

Those people went through hell before crashing.

There's video of larger vessel and a tug at the site
It is very unnerving to me how calm the water is in that video, knowing that an airline passenger jet had crashed into it not long before.

Planes don’t just fall from the sky like that. I’m going pilot murder/suicide.

And one mechanic had recommended the jackscrew be replaced but his supervisors didn't listen to him and instead forged records.

The Alaska flight lost control because a bad screw in the elevator trim sheared off.
The captain did everything he could to save the aircraft, including flying upside down.
He knew they were most likely doomed and asked ATC to take them over the water. Most likely saved some lives on the ground by making that request.
This one is odd, looks like the aircraft lost airspeed, then gained it (with the loss of altitude). Apparently the pilots asked to return to Jakarta so they knew something was not right.

I had the same thought. Felt like stuff would just start popping up on the surface. It was eerie
