personally i think they should have a list of standard, staple foods that can be purchased with a food stamp card.

eggs, bread, flour, butter, cheddar cheese, peanut butter, certain fruits and vegetables, maybe ground meat, beans, rice, whole chickens, etc.

you can make tons of legit food from a few staple items, but if you want other shite, make them pay for it themselves.

Why limit it to food stamps? I think we all know that poor people would be better off sticking to rice and beans even when they're paying cash. I think you should have to be able to prove a minimum household income of $75K to purchase any meat products, chocolates, coffee, etc. Way too many poors wasting money on these luxuries when you can easily survive on plain rice & beans; really, this law would be for their own good.

Government assistance should be issued once a month in cash.

Embarassing shite. My mom worked a factory job and raised me alone on 350 a week. She had her own house, we never went hungry, and was always able to provide and give more than I needed as a kid.

No child support, no govt. assistance.

Yeah, but you're white so you should check your privilege.

Pull the plug on all government entitlement programs and you would see 90% have jobs in a few weeks. The other 10% would be taken care of by families, communities and churches. People survived for thousands of years without welfare and EBT. Out of wedlock births would drop dramatically as well. I live in a dream world.

This would all go away if we had work centers where people could go to earn these cards. Want $100 of food dollars? Put in 12 hours of community work, signed off when completed, and you get your card. At that point, it could be WalMart gift card. I don't see the problem. Or the same could be done for career training, X hours completed, X dollars on a gift card.

I totally agree. If you want money for food, people should work for it. Look around the city, there are plenty of opportunities to work in the community. The problem is that America doesn't have a poverty problem, we have a laziness problem. Every store you go to, they are hiring - in fact, lots of businesses are hiring. If a poor person wants to pursue a skilled trade, there is funding available for that.

I don't agree with EBT cards. Poverty should be painful. If we continue to make it comfortable, we eliminate the incentive to have career welfare rats.

Here's a 27 year old man that has never had a job.

Pretty sure you can't do this with LA's food stamps card. Texas should do the same.

Too bad that won't fly with the feds if they come calling..IMO..but then again, this government doesn't do a thing to watch our money and how it's spent.

I handle these transactions thru my systems.
