It started for me in the Navy. Now it feels strange not to wear one

Never understood the undershirt

I've learned so much from this thread. I had no idea there was an "undershirt crowd".

I never understood wearing expensive dress shirts without a protective layer below.

Costco- "Kirkland Signature" crew necks. Durable and collar stays flat.
See, I bought some of these - wearing one now - and they are really heavy and thick for undershirts. I think I'm going to find something lighter and thinner.

David Archy. Get em on Amazon

It absorbs sweat. Makes you less likely to have pit stains and shite.
So now you're holding a sweaty shirt against your body? Look all across the world in hot equatorial climates. Nobody Does this. A single layer of linen is all you need to stay cool and still cover up from the Sun.
There are Fabrics that don't show sweat stains. Besides, We're Men. I personally don't give a shite if I have sweat stains. If anything it's a badge of honor cuz it shows you're actually working and doing something

I'd rather get sweat stains on a v-neck undershirt that's $10 for a pack than my dress shirts that are $100 a pop or better. Is this really that hard
I don't wear dress shirts because I'm more concerned with comfort and function than Aesthetics and fashion. I do think it's cute though that you think you're high Stylin and you're not a woman or a gay

It started for me as soon as I pledged a fraternity at LSU. You're not going to pick up sorority chicks with huge sweat stains
Finally. Some legitimate logic.

I've never stopped wearing one.
You still picking up sorority chicks, baw?

Have X-Temp V Neck in the summer. I go with the regular cotton in the winter.

If you're wearing it an undershirt under polos or collared shirts that aren't buttoned all the way up, get a deep v neck so you can't see it. Probably the best, most discreet one (at least that I have) is:
LINK
2xist, deep v neck modal... I think they sell them in most dept stores.
Very deep v, so it doesn't show in front when you have the top of your shirt unbuttoned. It's slim fit so you don't have a ton of loose fabric bunching under your shirt. It's long, so stays tucked in well. And the modal fabric is a very soft, almost silky fabric that breathes well. Very comfortable.
Only wear crew necks if you're wearing your shirt buttoned all the way up... basically when you're wearing a tie.
