That's another fricked up environment. I was in Catahoula waiting for a pre-trial hearing and I'm in there with people already sentenced for 20+ years to life. That shouldn't happen
What did you do? Drugs?

Is double springs in this county?

No, Double Springs is in a neighboring county - Winston. Same class of people.

Yes, opiates/opioids to be exact.
They've been the bane of my existence. I came out here to Cali after I went to a rehab in GA. Didn't take long for me to go back to fricking up again. Starting making trips to Mexico and 2 years later I got setup and arrested again.
Fwiw, I know the Cali legal system gets shite on a lot here, and rightfully so. That said, the way they handle drug cases here are much more beneficial towards helping people who are addicts.
I consider myself lucky as frick. I got caught with a bunch of fentanyl, coke and meth. My original charge was a manufacturing/distribution charge. My lawyer got it dropped down to a misdemeanor possession charge 2 weeks ago and all I have to do is 24 NA meetings before April 4th.
I consider myself lucky because with what I got caught with, I should be doing time. And i would fully accept it. However, That's where I think the Cali legal system failed. If I was in Louisiana, I'd be looking at life just off the amount of fentanyl alone. I think I got let off easy here for what I had. I think there should be some balance. I probably should have at least gotten 5 years, which I think would have been reasonable.
I'm counting my blessings though.

The biggest hurdle with mental health care in this country is the accessibility of it. Even for people with financial means and good health insurance, it’s not always easy to get good mental healthcare. And it can be an absolute nightmare for those living in poverty.

I really appreciate that.

It not just small towns. Sheriffs (not sheriff deputies) are some of the most powerful individuals in law enforcement. Obviously the power is limited to that county.

Isn't that what they said happened? Not sure how that video disputes that description. What is different between this video and what the sheriff's department originally said happened?

Shitty part is that no one will be held accountable.

How can you disparage a place that gave us Goober and Mr. Haney.

This is why you never call the cops bc the risk is too high that they will protect and serve someone you love by throwing them in jail or killing them.

Yup, good cops don’t turn a blind eye on bad cops. The fact that they protect that thin blue line says everything.

“Good” cops that turn on the bad cops usually get black balled within departments and never move up the ranks or assigned the worst beats. I’ve seen it happen dozens of times.

Whoever made the comment that prison guards are from the same socioeconomic crust as criminals just that they still have a clean record is very accurate
A lot of prison guards I have met are just as uneducated as the prisoner
Mix that in with not being paid much; then getting bribed to sneak in cell phones and drugs for an extra few thousand seems pretty lucrative

It should be a better paying job but it's certainly pretty shitty. I'd imagine really shitty in Walker County

Don't know. "Alert and conscious" doesn't mean "of his own volition." That video doesn't really tell me if he's conscious or not.
