Are you really? When it comes to law enforcement and politics.. And I don't say this to shite on police, generally speaking we need law enforcement, but there are also a lot of temptations that comes with the job..
Back in the days of crack, in some cities (new orleans being one), when police made a big bust they would then go to a corner with an established dealer, knock him off, then put someone else from the street there, protect them.. split the profits 50/50.
They knew who was doing what so they took advantage of the low level dealers. With multiple police doing this, I am sure some of that money made it to the top somewhere.
Its not like law enforcement has an interest in stopping "the drug war".
