So we have decided to spend one more day with him. Just spoiling him today. Gave him a bath, feed him table food and just going to love him all day. Also, we have been taking a lot of pictures with him. This is one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make but I know it's the right one.

If medical science was so great at extending life expectancy, get to work on the dog side of it.

Are you willing to pay $$$$ to keep your dog alive another couple years?

I think that sounds like a great plan. Just love on him as much as you can today. Feed him yummy stuff you wouldn't normally give him (cheeseburgers, steak, etc). I think letting today be about loving your dog will also help your son as well.

I’ve always fed all of our dogs that kind of stuff as much as possible. Would never have a dog I couldn’t throw bones and leftovers to.

Yep, been there. Makes for a terrible day, but if you love them, you can’t let them suffer. It’s coming for me again soon. I have a hound dog mutt that is 12, soon to be 13. He doesn’t move so we’ll, but still has a good quality of life.

Put my buddy down 2 months ago. The right thing to do, but the hardest thing to do. Take sometime today say goodbye. Mine got a bacon cheese burger and blue bell ice cream.

This is what we did with ours. Bittersweet memories for sure. Dogs are awesome.

I’m sorry man. A dog is like this weird gift that mankind has been given, almost too good to be true. It almost seems impossible that they exist. And we truly do love them and when we lose them it’s so hard. Best to you and the family.

Do not second-guess yourself. You are doing the most loving thing you can do for your pet. So sorry.

We had to put both of our dogs down over the past 2 months. The first was 15, and she was getting to where she couldn’t get up, was soiling her kennel almost every morning, and had a seizure that made her start ‘cornering’. Vets said it was a brain tumor and it was only going to get worse.

Other dog, 12, has a seizure at the same time I had to have an emergency appendectomy. The vet watched him over that weekend and he had 5-6 more seizures in that time. It was pretty awful having to put him down, but the anti-seizure meds weren’t working well enough, and we didn’t really have a choice. It sucks and our house seems a little emptier with no four legged friends in it- we’re looking to get another dog after we come back from Fall Break vacation.

So sorry. Worst part of having a dog is that they dont live forever. Had to put my mastiff down a few months ago. He was 10, grew up with my little girl. Miss my sweet boy every day

Man I’m sorry and I’m dreading that day for my family. I was never a dog person until I got an English Bulldog 6 months ago and I can honestly say she’s changed me for the better. I love that dog as if she were my child and I know my entire family will be devastated when her time comes.

So we gave him another week for the kids to say goodbye, but I've got an appointment today at 2:20. I've already been crying like a little girl

I have a theory that dogs are our guardian angels in disguise.
