Start drinking as early as possible and stay in your hotel room.

My go to spot for livers. I'm passing through this evening and will grab an order.

As you approach the exit, floor it and keep on driving.

Really not much else to do, but if you're there for an occasion and know this is the itinerary, it's not a bad place.
My wife and I got married by the JOP on a Friday afternoon. Our "honeymoon" was staying in a hotel in Natchitoches. We went to the Landing, had a few drinks, then went back to the hotel and drank a bit more. Walked around a bit, went to bed.
It was really a very run of the mill evening, but honestly one of the best nights of my life. That had more to do with just getting married, though. Regardless, I now remember Natchitoches very fondly. I've had some other good times there, but that whole day was very special.

I’d leave and go somewhere that wasn’t an absolute shite hole. This coming from a previous 15 year resident. It’s kind of like visiting Scottlandville, but with a brick street and a bridge.
ETA: You’ll need a bullet proof vest, and also pack some heat.

You can take a ride on the Cane River Queen if the weather is nice.

French Market express at the Hwy 6 exit on 49 has a pretty decent bakery and food.
Mama’s is legit. Good food, good drink, great service. Really anywhere on front street. CRB is worth a trip too and not far away from downtown

Lunch at Papa’s; go catch a couple innings of baseball at NSU; after that head over to Cane River Brewery and have some drinks and watch some basketball; head back downtown for more drinks and dinner at some of the above mentioned spots and catch some live music (could also substitute Mariner’s here).
Decent lazy day.
